Anyone Use Freedom Munitions Ammo?

Someone sent me a link on a good place to buy good ammo at a very reasonable cost, Freedom Munitions. I've never come across them being talked about on here as my researching is still ongoing. Basically I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them & how there ammo really is?

There site: freedommunitions.com & I hope it's ok for me to post that link. I also hope this is written in the correct spot, lol!

Thank You,

I've run through about three thousand rounds of 9mm and a few hundred 380 ACP new ammo, but never tried their reman. No issues yet.

The good news? They're pretty quick to replace a gun when their ammunition breaks it.

The bad news? Their ammunition tends to have spectacular failures. I've witnessed one broken Glock 23 due to bullets seated too deep. In a second case, an M9 blew out the extractor using it. Upon inspection, numerous cartridges had bulged primers.

Both incidents were this year. I was hearing rumors about their problems through 2014 as well.

I've used a lot of Freedom 9mm with no problems.

I've used some Freedom 223, with no problems, but maybe a little less accuracy than I would have hoped for.

I posted an AR15 accuracy test of 6 type rounds, including Freedom, in this thread: "A little comparative ammo accuracy test"

I am currently awaiting packaging and a shipping label for 1000rds of .223. This is due to a recall. I'm glad to hear they replace spectacular failures in firearms, but more so glad that I didn't have mine be one of them.

I was acting as a safety officer at an IDPA match. Over the course of the match we had a competitor encounter two squibs out of the same box of ammo: Freedom Munitions factory reman 9mm. After the second one he was required to discontinue use, and had to borrow a box of ammo from someone to finish the match.

I've used their new 180 grain 10mm fmj, and new 124 grain 9mm fmj ammo with good results.

I don't use anybody's remaned ammo.

I buy their new ammo and have not had any problems. I did have some issues with their reloads and setback so I stick with new.

Same as Southy. There recent Remans appeared to have some seating issues. I'd not had that before. Their new rounds appear fine. It mayhave been a temporary thing, or not.

Five of my shooting buddies and myself have been buying from Freedom for more than two years. My buddies all rave about the stuff and personally, with shooting about 7 thousand rounds, I have had only one bad one round. I buy both their new and reman stuff...mostly .45ACP and recently, some 9MM.

Thank you all for the replies. One question tho, what's the difference between reman & new besides a few bucks? Is it worth it to buy new even if its just for piece of mind?

Fyi, most if not all this ammo will be shot at paper targets at the range with a Ruger SR9 with 1100 rounds thru it so far.

It depends on the company doing the remanufacturing. Atlanta Arms and Georgia Arms pistol ammunition have been excellent in my experience.

On the other hand, I've seen two epic failures with CorBon ammunition. I've had a squib from Speer, and I've had numerous backwards primers with Winchester white box.

The problem with Freedom Munitions appears to be one of scale and workload. During the 2013 ammo panic, they were often the only folks with bulk ammo in stock. It seems that may have been cause for suspicion. There has been some evident sloppiness from them.

I have used their new 9mm and have had no problems I can think of. I have used 400-500 rounds of the reman with no issues either.

I've used 2500 rounds of their 9mm reman with zero issues and 1500 of their 38 special reman. On the 38 special there was one box where a couple of the primers had a seating issue where they projected a little from the bottom of the cartridge and got hung up as the cylinder rotated, causing a slight jam. They all shot fine and are accurate enough. I've also shot a box of colt 45 reman with zero issues. I highly recommend them, especially at their price points.

FWIW, I will use reloads for range practice and only factory new for defensive carry. The percentage of failures I have had with reloads are about equal to what I have experienced with factory new. Makes no logical sense but it is a piece of mind factor that I prefer the new for defense.

The only thing that occurs to me is that you don't how many firings a commercial reload case has been through, and maybe the casing would split and get stuck in the chamber, causing a stoppage.

Is that a realistic concern?

Case head failure will/can ruin your day and generally cause firearm damage. Many of us do not, will not, use a die to un-bulge a case head. 9mm is probably the least likely to give dangerous issues because of its safety margine.

I've shot about 500 rounds of their 5.56 reman, 500 rounds of their .45 reman, and about 200 rounds of their .50 BMG API reman, it all works good, haven't really shot any of it for accuracy.

I just happened to shoot some today for accuracy. I shot a box of 124 grain 9mm freedom munitions reman. And a box of 115 grain federal target. Both were shot out of the same gun, a full-size cz copy. The freedom munitions was roughly $11 a box and the federal was roughly $19 for the box. I wasn't actually trying to compare the accuracy of the ammunition but rather the gun. But I wanted to shoot two different types of ammo to ensure that ammo was not a factor in my analysis of the accuracy of the gun.
At 17 yards shooting from a rest I could not tell any significant accuracy difference between these two types of ammo. The freedom munitions may have been slightly less accurate but if that is the case the difference was very minimal.
Both were grouping at approximately 3 1/2 inches. Not the level of groupings I wanted to see from this gun but the problem I believe was with the gun not the ammo which is why I shot two types.
