I currently own 2 Icons.
Purchased them both recently because I heard that S&W, after buying TC, discontinued the Icon and began the Venture line instead.
I have the 30TC and a 6.5 Creedmoor..
My 6.5 is a partial custom with a 30" SS Krieger barrel & a 2" muzzle break.
Barrel was chambered and machine fit to my action by Don Geracy.

I have one in .308. Great gun and a heck of a lot more accurate than I am.
I'm pretty sure the Icon came out at the same time S&W bought TC in '07, which came first I don't know but both the sale and in the introduction of the model happened 5 years ago. Mine was made in '08.

Hey Bumnote,,,,
I was told by my local Gun Dealer that TC discontinued them. I'm wasn't told when they did, but I know that he traveled around buying up all the icons he could find. Do you have the Weather Shield or the Precision Hunter?? Do you load your ammo?

To all.....,,,,,

I just called TC,,,, Ken, a service dept guy, told me he has heard nothing about the Icon line being discontinued. In fact, it's the Venture line that has been halted, so as to focus on fixing all the re-call rifles being returned.
My apologies,,,, the Icon line of TC and S&W remains

I've got the Classic with the Ultra Wood stock, but I replaced the butter knife style bolt handle with the traditional styled one. I do load for it, and it's been an excellent performer with 150gr up to 180gr and a variety of different powders I've tried out. I generally run MB118 Mil-Spec 175gr I buy in bulk from Wideners for general plinking and target shooting and they group 1" and better if i do my part. The 5R barrel seems to as good as they say and it seems to clean easier.

Bumnote,,,,,
I really like the 5R barrel as well,,
Shooting from bags and solid table my 30 has shot 5 within .6". It's odd tho,, my first shot from a clean barrel is usually the flyer,,, is that common?
I haven't gotten to shoot my 6.5 at the range yet. Just a few shots from prone at a hillside. Can't wait!!!!
