anyone seen the polymer KAHR yet?

I had heard that there was an new Kahr coming out with a polymer frame? Is there any truth to this, has anyone seen one? My gun dealer said that is was just a prototype and that Kahr is just trying to identify demand and marketability.

I did see one in an add in the Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement Mag (NOV.?) and aside from the black polymer frame and stainless slide, it looks like the standard Kahr 9.

It is absolutely true...go to: http://www.kahr.com
then go to "what's new?" I'm gonna give it a while to see if it's going to be a solid gun. Imagine the kick if they came out with a P-40... ouch.

Im wondering if Kahr has a full size frame us big handed people could enjoy ?

Cool gun, didn't even know they were working on a Polymer model. I loved the K9 I had (sold it, had a custom finish added and the inside of the mag well started to rust from a chemical reaction between the mag and the finish-odd I know). I'll probably get this new P9, even though the takedown will still most likely be a pain in the a*s (almost took my finger off 3 times with the K9).

Just got an email response from Kahr, and they said the P9 will have a December ship date.

Perhaps I'm looney (shaddup, Coinneach!), but I can hardley wait for an MP40 (Mini Polymer .40). Now THAT would be the mother of all mouseguns!

I've read in a few of the gun rags that the first round fired from the K-9 has a point of impact two-three inches from the remaining rounds fired. The author theorized that the hand-cycled round in the chamber that didn't have the dynamic forces of the recoil-cycled rounds was to blame. Any truth to this?

CAK: Not true in the case of my K9. I suspect that some users take a while to get with the technique called for in shooting the Kahr guns...that long smooth trigger may accentuate some kinds of flinch. Re: the other poster's problem with mag-well rust after a custom refinish: Please tell us what the refinish was! I can't imagine why the Kahr's stainless mag body would chemically react to any proprietary finish of which I am aware. To answer the question of still another poster about a '...Kahr to fit big hands', I can only say my hands are smallish but thick and my shooting bro's are as big as hams; and my Kahr 9 fits us both well. slabsides

For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.

It is called the P9. Capacity is 7+1 and weight is 15.8 oz for the gun and 1.9 oz for the mag. 3.5" barrel. (as per their brochure)

Morgan, we already *knew* you were loonie. Far be it from me to point out the fact.

Whoops, I just did. :D

Seriously, if Kahr makes a polymer .40, I'll give it a fair trial. That would be a nice little mouser.

Slabsides,

Me neither, I had it done by Accurate plating & weaponry (hard chrome)- they did a great job, looked awesome. I don't know what happened but the metal started to rust on the inside of the magwell and the mag started to discolor and get spotted. So, I don't know what the deal was, very strange though. So I sold the gun.

Yes, Elvis was checking it out after buying
a Glock carbine :)

I want to see this gun but I sure do have a lot sunk into Glock holsters though.

I've read some recent posts that these have started to surface; any field reports yet?

Took my P9 to the range. Put 250 rds. thru it- 2 jams on first mag- none thereafter. Win Clean 115gr. shot low, but tight. Cor-Bon 115 shot tight to POA at 25yds, as did the Triton 115 Hi Vel & Win 115 JHP (the Triton had quite a flash.) Recoil felt like my M29 with Cor-Bon 135s. I could not induce a limp wrist jam in 10 tries. Mags do not fall free at this point- they act like my Glocks did before Armoralled. Slide release has GOT to go- way too big/sharp. Don't high thumb it- you'll lose flesh. Must be shot with trigger fingertip pad on trigger- if you use the first joint & have hands my size (average-long) your trigger finger will get smacked by your strong hand thumb. Trigger (Elite I was told by Kahr) is smooth & breaks quickly - reset is much longer than a Glock. Inspires confidence like my M29, but far thiner (even with the mongo slide release.)Frame (except for trigger & oval mag release) could pass for a Glock by nimrods. Fit & finish is top notch. I'm quite impressed with it.

10Mil- Any further updates with your P9?
Anyone else out there with any RANGE experiences with the P9?

OK guys,
Don't get jealous.
I live close to Kahr Arms....and they use the indoor range were I shoot ( for product testing and such).
I volunteer as a range safety oficer, and have full access to all the try out guns.

We got a few ( 4 or so )of the first batch off the line...I think it was 250 on the first run.

It is in .9mm, it is light.!, it has a great trigger, did I mention light!.

It shoots quite nicely...as do all Kahrs.
The polymer lower is well done.

And will make an exceptional CCW pistol, or a terrific full power backup weapon.

It aint gonna be cheap....just check out the Kahr web-site for all the particulars and details.

There is one left of the four the shop got....and I was thinking about snatching it for myself....if someone hasn't beaten me to it.

I give it a thumbs up.!

Wolf,
When you say close to Kahr Arms, are you talking NY or MA? I live outside of Worcester, MA and am curious about where you're talking about. I'm planning on getting the K40 in stainless. I've never shot one, but handled several and they are impressive.
