Anyone seen the new P22?

Wow! What a sexy looking pistol. Far too small, but really pretty.

Even has wonderful SIMULATED cuts for a comp that ain't there. I actually looked at it. The dinky grips have nice finger grooves that MAY fit a baboon (if the baboon has small hands) and the single action is only about 457 creepy pounds.

BUT.....

It's made in GERMANY. Must be great. Looking at the printing on it and tried to figure out if it was a Walther or S&W. Maybe neither wants full blame.

Oh well....it's cheap. Not cheap enough to have any use...but cheap.

What a disappointment after seeing it in the case where it looks so techy and neat. There is another model without the simulated comp cuts but it would not be as handy to use for a coat hanger rack as the lack of the cuts would allow the wet clothes to slip off.

I rate it a G&A 10+

This gun should get a NEW classification.

"Gun In Drag"

You pick it up and THEN you get the surprise.

:D

I've heard of some owners having reliability problems. That's too bad, since it's a neat itty-bitty little gun. Does it really have "fake" compensator cuts? If so, that's as cheezy as the fake dual exhausts present on some cars.

What I was expecting was a 3/4 scale .22 cal trainer for my P99. What I saw, Lavan pretty much discribed!!! :barf: :barf: :barf:

Walther has gotten "infected" somehow by Slick and Willy. But, I guess that's what happens when you marry a gutter **** !!!!!!

Works really well if you have 3/4 scale hands! Not everyone is 6'5" or born with the G.I. Joe kung-fu grip.

the single action is only about 457 creepy pounds.

Works really well for first-timers who don't know anything about trigger pull. Would you really hand over a competition trigger job to a first-timer who's never handled a gun before?

Could it be better? Yes.
Is it is what it is? Yes.
Does it list for less than 1/2 the price of a P99, as opposed to a CZ75 Kadet being ~ the same price as a CZ75? Yes.
Knowing that, buy it or don't. My wife (small hands) loves the fit and will be trying it out for the first time this weekend. A first-timer had no problems hitting paper and didn't complain about the trigger pull. I had no reliability issues while breaking it in, so I/we are satisfied customers.

I have yet to see in person an "ugly" gun...some carry the "form over function" a bit far but still....

I am taking out my daughters P22target (5") today. When cleaning last night, I was impressed at how smooth it had become after many range trips. No I did not measure the trigger weight, but it certainly has become quite crisp and very light. The DA trigger is still heavy, but it has been mostly shot sa.

By the way, why, and again why would you expect to get a "real" comp on a 22LR with a 5" barrel???????

Do you really think that the comp is going to make any difference?

Lets face it, Walther made a nice looking gun so the kids can go shoot with the parents have a neat gun just like dads......

Triggers shouldn't BECOME crisp

unless the hardening of the sear is faulty.

If comps have no use, why SIMULATE em?

The Gene Autry 50 shot cap pistol is neat looking.

:p

There is a very good reason Lavan...its not a comp but a muzzle weight. Have you ever thought the cuts were made to it to give it a better ballance? Perhaps a solid weight would put too much out front and make pointing awkward. Food for thought my friend.

That is a definite possibility.

Could also be a holster rasp, a rock wedge for climbing, bayonet hanger, mirage breaker, maybe a GUIDE for someone who IS going to cut comp cuts, nonslip handgrip for when pistolwhipping while holding barrel, bottle opener, any number of things.

3 of us today put 550 (about 2000 fired so far) rnds down the P22t with on failures to fire. We had 3 failures to feed, all nosedives from poorly loaded magazines.

Accuracy was good, the gun functioned cleanly, and had no problems.

SA trigger is definately "crisper" then when new and seems to have stabilized.

DA trigger is still long and heavy!

All in all a good general plinking gun. Shoots reliably, no complaints!

I bought one of the P22 "First Edition Sets" with both the 3.42" and 5" barrels, "comp", 2 mags, case, etc. I took it to the range the day after I bought it. The slide release spring became dislodged, and was dragging on the slide, causing the gun to short-cycle.

S&W (who does Walther repairs) sent me a free Fed-Ex shipping label and off it went. They (S&W) mistakingly sent the repaired gun back to the dealer's, where it sat for more than 2 weeks as I waited patiently. A couple calls to S&W and 1 to the dealer's set that mess straight.

The gun was bought for my nephew to use. It fits his smallish 12 year-old hands very well. He looks forward to using in some pin shoots (22's shoot at bowling pin heads @ 30')

Right now the trigger pull is long and creepy, and that's the SA! It breaks at a consistent 4.3 #. The double action pull is unusable for my nephew, somewhere around 12.5# and stacks up really bad. Even with the nasty trigger, my nephew loves the gun!

Gee Lavan, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. :D I know I hounded all the local shops for months waiting for these crazy things to hit the shelves. The first one I actually saw left me drooling with anticipation! Then I got hold of it.....bummer. Oh well maybe one of these days. There is still something in me which is saying "Walther" but for now I"ll pass.
