Anyone removed a folding bayonet from Mosin 44 ?

Thinking of turning a 44 into a short sporter carbine but to do it the bayonet has to go. Anyone done this or know of someone who has had it done ??? Thanks for looking,,, 10 Spot
 
I got one reply on another forum and was told it was more trouble than it was worth that both the front sight and the bayonet lug were pinned to hold them in place then either epoxyd or soldered in place. It will take much work with a torch and a good vise to hold the action in place while either trying to knock the offenders off and may require some careful cold chisel work. I am not easily scared and will start on this project soon.
