Anyone remember 9mm Auto Rim?

Years ago I had a Charter Arms (pit bull?) in 9mm Federal. The gun sucked so I sold it after buying several boxes of ammo, which I kept. I discovered that I could use it in my S&W 940 without the clips and it worked in a 36 speedloader as well. Anyone else ever do this?

Have never owned a gun in that caliber though I have read about it. I wondered why the cartridge was really invented. I guess to stick the "9mm" tag which was so popular in the mid 80's. I just couldn't figure what it could do that a 38 or 357 couldn't.

Fit into a much smaller package and still provide performance well above .38 +P and approaching .357Mag.

There was an excellent discussion of the specifics of this in AR about 10 years ago (which made the same point).

I can't remember the ballistics but I did chrono all the loads and at the time the 9mm Federal beat the .38+P handily. I carried them in my 940 for several years, as long as the supply lasted.
