Anyone own/seen new FN Hi Power?

Just wondered if any of you had purchased or handled one of the new FN marked Hi Powers. If so, what are your thoughts? I know there was a Combat Handguns review that was nothing spactacular, but I hold your opinions higher than those of the gun rags. Thanks.

Although I didn't get to shoot it, the one I handled was very nice. Well put-together, nice blue finish, and comfortable. Was priced at $650. I'm waiting for a 9mm.....this one was 40cal.

Well made, but rougher trigger

I looked over a pair of new ones recently. I own a BHP Practical (9mm) purchased a few years a go. My general impression of the latest offering was that they were put together well, good fit and finish, but the triggers were MUCH rougher than I recall mine being before I removed my magazine disconnect. Perhaps after a mag disconnect removal and some use to polish things up, it would smooth out. Also noticed that the barrels are serial numbered to match the frames. Cute-but who wants to have a barrel that is legally a "firearm"?

Only the receiver is a "firearm." Ever.

Glocks have slides and barrels that are serial #'d, FWIW.

Just a touch to note that parts are original.

Thanks for the replies. I'm considering having my dealer order one of these. I have a nice Capitan HP, so I want something similar to it, that will make a nice pair. I thought it may be cool to have the FN markings, just for something different. Having never seen one, I'd like a nice consensus on just how they are. If I have my dealer order one, I'd feel bad not going ahead with the purchase. So far I'm encouraged by the replies. Thanks

I examined one in 9mm about a month ago, and to me it was absolutely identical to a Portugese-assembled Browning HP I owned a few years ago. The only two differences I noticed are that 1) the barrel doesn't have the little tab extention above the chamber (which I've heard was always a redundancy) although the breech is still cut for it, and 2) the frame serial number is on the dust cover instead of the front strap. Praise be! It was pretty hard to get a gunsmith to do a nice 30lpi checkering job on the front strap when there was a serial number running across it.
