Anyone out there with a Model 70 in 6.5 Swede? (bolt face question)

I posted weeks ago wanting to know about the bolt face diameter on Tikka's in 6.5 Swede. Still haven't bought a Swede, but it will be my next purchase. Looking for a modern stainless gun, and have come to find that Winchester made the 70 Featherweight in Stainless 6.5 Swede a few years back. Thinking I'll look for one.

My question is: Does anyone out there have a Winchester in 6.5x55 that wouldn't mind measuring the bolt face diameter for me?

I ask because I know that American brass has the .308Win rim diameter of .473 for 6.5x55 instead of the correct size, and I'm wondering if the rifles we make do too. Someone was kind enough to measure their Tikka bolt for me and it measured .484.

I could use Winchester brass I suppose no matter what the case, but I already have some Norma brass that measures .480 across the rim, and it WILL NOT fit the bolt face of my Remington 700 chambered in 308.

Looking at my Sierra @nd Edition manual..

it indicated that the case dimension are identical to the Mauser cases, which is identical to the .243, .308, .30-06 seris of cases.

The winchester Bolt head diameter should be standard across the action

ave tow that measure:

Bolt OD: 0.695 / 0.695 [2000 series Blk. Shadow 7mmM
& 0.689 / 0.690 [1971 series M70A]

Bolt Face ID: 0.552 0.550 Blk shd
0.485 / 0.484 70A

hope this helps?

The bolt face inner diameter was what I was looking for, thanks. The CORRECT size for 6.5 Swede is .480 as backed up by the Lyman, Speer and Lee manuals, but American manufacturers use the .473 of the .308/30-06 family to make it easier on themselves.

My Norma cases measure .480, but they won't fit into the bolt face of my .308 Remington 700, which measures .478. My worry being that I would be unable to use brass made outside the USA if I purchased a Winchester.
