Anyone Open Carry in Oregon?

I remember when I took my CCW course, the instructor told the class that it was not legal to open carry even if I had my CCW because it was considered menacing. Oregon is listed as an open carry state, and from the Legalize it sounds like you can carry openly, but that each city and county has a say as to where and when. I have never seen anyone open carry in Portland or surrounding areas. Anyone out there carry, and what has been your experience.

Thanks

Yep. I open carry on occasion. I've open carried into stores and such around here, nobody seems to notice or care. I've heard open carry can get you hasseled in Portland, Beaverton and Eugene. But out here in the boonies, noone cares. Of course, that could change, since the city is seeking more tourism/vacation dollars now. Oh, I live in Sweet home, btw.

WOD,

Portland and Beaverton have an ILLEGAL law stating that you can't open carry. The LEO's (not bashing them, they just do what Potter and the other idiots tell them) WILL give you a hard/bad time if you are caught.

The rest of Oregon is okay with it since it IS legal. Here in Eugene, you will get "looks", finger pointing, and sometimes a "talking too" from the state/local Police but the Sheriff and his Deputies won't bother you (they seem to know the law :) ).

Thanks for the response guys, now I know why you both dont live in Portland.

Amazing how the areas that one would need to carry a gun are the same areas that ban them.

Portlands had 5 shootings in the last month and one Teacher at George Fox was stabbed to death while eating at a diner for no apparent reason other than being in a place where no one was armed or willing to help. :barf:

WOD,

If you are able, move to Oregon City or the outskirts of the Portland area (dang, I can't spell that county name, never could, probably never will).

You get out of that stupid tax, you're still close enought to get your cold medicine in Washington (what a stupid law, but no surprise given the governor of our state), and you will live freer.
