Anyone loading the .277 Wolverine?

I was out of the AR "Wildcats" loop for a number of months while I took care of my brother and when I started getting back into things I noticed the nice new addition of the 277 Wolverine. Seems to be another caliber that only requires a barrel change to get it up and running.

Curious what accuracy members are getting from 16" barrels and what powders are being used.

is it a 223 necked up to .277 caliber? Never heard of it before. May be a good round. Some where between the 223 and the 300 B.O.

We already have a .277 AR. The 6.8 SPC

....and it requires boutique brass, magazines and bolt ..... this new ".277Wolverine" round uses standard 5.56 brass (necked up), standard magazines, and standard 5.56 bolt. The only things you need to buy are the barrel and dies, and those are one-time expenses. It's on my short list.

Yep what he said! I was looking into getting some dies and a barrel soon.

From what I have been reading the .277 offers better performance than the 300BO in some areas. 110g Vmax cooking along @ 2500FPS, 95g TTSX @2650FPS. Also has SUB loads for those that like that stuff.

I thought the guy "making" .277 Wolverine barrels was stringing people along, failing to deliver, and causing some major headaches for people?

Or am I confusing it with .375-whatever?

300BO was designed for guns with a short gas system and fast burning pistol powders ..... it sacrifices case capacity to allow for long heavy 30 cal bullets for subsonic use ..... the 6.8 and the Wolverine beat it handily in both velocity and energy on target when longer barrels are used.

Yes that seems to be another benefit to the 277 over the 300BO. I can use my H110 for it's intended use (My 44Mag) and use standard rifle power with the 277.
