Anyone like M-14s?

Father's day was this past Sunday, and I thought most of you would love to get your hands on at least one of these.

I stopped by my father's house to help him hook his scanner up and found this photo to scan. Unfortunately, neither of us can afford an M1A right now, but hopefully soon, there will be two owned by our family. :D

Please send donations to... ;)

Great pic Tommy :)
As for fathers day, it was a profitable one for SA as a lot of guys picked up there new M1A's this month. I got mine and I am not even a father.

If you watch the board at www.assaultweb.net and www.ar15.com you can find some great deals. One guy just bought a Loaded with the USGI pistol grip stock (worth $350) USGI mags, scope and mount for.......hope your sitting down $1300.00

Just start saving, I am getting what I can afford before they do something silly again and ban everything but small calibre black powder guns

I'm saving my money..

Saw a gov-issue M14 with everything for $1400 at the last gun show I attended, didn't have the cash though. :(

Hey folks,

I have no need for an M1A, but then I really have no need for the Colt AR-15 in 223, the Colt AR-15 in 7.62X39, the three SKSs, the .... Who cares about need; I want an M1A from SA.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

Oh geez, shall we talk needs  Like I needed 4 Sk's rifles, 2 Bushmaster AR (1 a Vmatch) then a Stoner M4, a Winchester Model 70 in .308, a Savage 99E in 300 savage and i just picked up my SA M1A.....now I go and buy a Savage 10FP.
Now shall we talk needs? What about th 37MM launcher I bought that wont work so I NEED a new AR :D
I have a few SK's that need to go soon, some pretty tricked out if anyone is looking.

Help, I was just thinking about that composite barrelled .308 Styer........I need a new hobby, maybe Toll Painting.

They're a nice weapon. My SA is pretty fun to shoot. I don't know why they're so blamed expensive. It seems like they're going up. When I bought mine it was $1,100. AR15s were about $800 with all the evil features. :p

Karsten,
Was that a pre-ban with the pistol grip stock? If it was a post ban and it had a flash hider and a pistol grip stock, then somebody is doing something less than legal (the validity of the law is another matter). If it was a pre ban, that guy got one heck of a deal.

Fatcat,
A government issue M-14... Do you mean an M-14NM (a rare M-14 semi-auto produced for the military shooting teams), or the standard full auto capable rifle, or some semi-automatic look alike? I can't imagine either of the first two items going for so cheap, so I assume that it's the third case. If so, do you know who made the receiver? A match grade, pre-ban springfield would be worth $1400 or more, just about everything else can be had for less.

I picked up a Pre ban M1A1 used, but in all but new cond. for $1000 out the door. Now I have to save for the Mags.. :)
It is a fine shooting rifle.
Politically Incorrect
I think your dad and I were in the army at the same time.. I have a pic of me that looks the same... But I don't look the same anymore :(

kruger -

I didn't really get a chance to look over it thoroughly, but the reciever was marked US and Winchester. It was in a synthetic stock with a metal handguard. It did look like the barrel was a different make, and the stock definately was. The reciever looked genuine, though the rest of the gun had me wondering if he had thrown together a piece o' junk.

I think they are junk I would not cross the street to pick up a dozen of pieces of crap. Even if they are free. You cant hit the broad side of a barn with them.
My .02 worth

Absolutely, they are junk, dangerous even. All you guys that have one, send it to me before it blows up ;)

M1911

You mean Mike14 or M1911 you would take this off my hands so I don't have to worry

That was me! It was a standard though. I sold off the E2 stock for $300 and the camo stock for $60, so for under $1k I got a PREBAN Springfield M1a (In awesome condition-no brass marks-maybe unfired?), with 13 USGI mags, M2 bipod and other goodies. I got REAL lucky!

I have the original walnut stock on it now.

KARSTEN- You are a hell of a guy! He was nice enough to answer a bunch of my questions and even offered to sell me a USGI sythetic stock for a GREAT price (which I will take you up on once I have the $)

BTW- IF ANYONE BUYS A NEW SPRINGFIELD M1a AND DOESN'T WANT THE $99 SCOPE PACKAGE PROMOTION, I'LL BUY IT FOR $135+S&H (or lets talk!) I need a scope! The one pictured goes on my DSA Fal but was not part of the original deal.

It is hard to tell but it looks like in the linked photo that the M14 on the viewer's left has the M15 grenade launcher sight and the M76 grenade launcher attached.

For all you guys who love your M1A/ M14, who reload, I thought I would give you a pet load of almost all serious service rifle match competitors. Sierra`s 168 gr bthp match bullet over 41.5 gr IMR4895, Win rifle primer, seated to 2.80". If your M1A doesnt shoot this load accurately, it`s your rifle, not the load! This load has been proven to be the BEST performing by hundreds of top competitors. Using military brass, (Lake City) is advisable, due to it`s tougher constuction. You can get a couple more loadings out of it. The M1A is pretty rough on brass, due to it`s aggressive extraction. Good shootin`, my trigger trippin` brothas!

I was also giving a pet load very close. 165 grain Speer BTSP, and 42 grains of IMR4064. I haven't short it out of the M1A yet, wanted to get it rifle working smootly with some Radway I picked up first. It did shoot very well out of my Winchester Model &0 .308 Varmint rifle....stilll kicking myself for selling it :( but I have a Savage 10 FP coming soon.
If anyone want a awesome source for LC 1X Brass check out www.scharch.com.
