I had one of those side by side .410 derringers that cobray made. Not too bad with the shotgun shells and even with the buckshot. I never got to try the slugs though.
I just got a Bond Arms Derringer in .410/45lc this week and took it out to shoot it yesterday. It was a literal blast! I personally did not find the recoil to be a problem. I have never fired any weapon and had a problem with recoil. With 000 buck it put all 3 of the shot into a chest sized area out to about 15 feet. I also tried .410 slugs and was able to keep all shots within about 6 inches out to 7 yards. .45 Colt did a little better. I used Silvertips and was able to hit the target regularly out to 10-15 yards. My thought is this: Everyone talks about triple tapping and multiple hits with all of the little mouseguns - I think that 3 000 buck hitting a BG in the chest all at the same time will be even more devastating then peppering a guy with 3 .32 acp rounds.
The disadvantage is only one follow up shot.
I'm taking mine back out to shoot next weekend and I'm sure my accuracy will get better with more practice just like my accuracy with my mini revolver improved after a few hundred rounds.
i have a cheap one made by FMJ, its like a small bee sting in the palm of you hand since it only touches a place the size of a quarter .
its a blast, they are only about $50 i got mine used for $35 w/half a box of shells, it kicked too hard for the other guy i don't shoot it much. but it is a blast!
