Anyone know twist rate

use a cleaning rod with patch and see how many turns in a foot, that is your twist

Almost..... right.

You are looking to see how many inches it takes to make 1 turn.

After making sure the gun is not loaded, of course:

1. Put gun in a secure position- gun vise, on a table held by an assistant, etc.....

2. remove bolt or attach muzzle protector if working from muzzle

3. put a fairly tight fitting patch in a slot tip or on a jag and insert rod into bore.

4. When the rod begins to turn, take a sharpie and mark 12 o'clock position at the back of the rod by the handle, and at the point there the rod goes into the gun (either at the breech or muzzle).

5. Push the rod, which will cause the rod to turn..... when your 12 o'clock mark makes 1 turn back to 12 o'clock, make another mark on the rod at the same point you made your second mark.

6. Remove the rod from the gun, and measure the distance, in inches, between the second and 3rd marks you made. Your twist is "One (turn) in X (inches)", often written as "1:X"

Clear as mud?

Sounds complicated, but it's not- like most things, it takes far longer to tell it than to do it.

It's a ten. Got rid of that aggravating 243 and bought husband one in 300 wsm. Bastard Muzzl brake and older model 16. No accutrigger but was a custom and its crisp at 2.5 lbs. pillar bedded and camo stock. 300 wsm shoots like a 308. Got it and dies + 50 rounds of loaded ammo in Norma brass. Husband is tickled pink. Had a set of 30 mm Leupold rings on it and topped it off with a 2.5x10x40 Prostaff 7. Feel like I done ok. I was a little Leary because all the weather warriors showed an accu trigger and bottom detach. this one didn't have. Looks like it's going to be a real shooter.
