Wondering if you guys had the opportunity to deal with online purchases. Any recommendations for reliable sites? This is all still new to me. Thanks, spy

Hi. Buying anything on-line is going to cost you more than buying locally. You'll have to pay for shipping and any service fees your local FFL dealer charges. Shipping costs for ammo or reloading components will negate any on-line prices too. Support your local dealers or they'll be gone. Most of 'em can order anything you want anyway. Mind you, you should expect to pay up front for anything you order.

I purchased a Maverick 88 not too long ago from BudsGunShop.com. It was very easy. You just have to find an FFL dealer in the area that's willing to have the gun shipped to them. They'll usually charge a transfer fee of $20-$40.

Buy your guns from a local dealer ....or they won't be there !

Support the local economy where you work and live ... is smart, in my opinion !

Buying on-line

I agree with many other posters. I buy local FIRST!!! I patronize Mom & Pops first, local Corporate second, and the only guns I buy on-line are collectibles (guns out of production). I NEVER buy ANYTHING from Ebay. I only buy reloading components on-line if my local dealer fails in ordering items. I will always keep my business local, but, I won't patronize incompetent business. I want you to order it and you don't I will spend my money somewhere else. In this current environment if we don't don't take care of our on local economy no one else will.

Another advantage to buying locally is being able to see the gun before you make a commitment. It's nice to be able to select the wood you like from a the ones in stock. Hopefully you live near a large gun shop that will offer a selection. If you buy on-line, you're probably going to get the next box in the stack. Think about it… if you ran a gun shop that also sold on-line wouldn't you keep the best guns for your walk-in customers?

Zippy.......selecting WOOD?????........Oh, my friend, you have been hiding in the shed..........these kids today are more interested in selecting the plastic and what P-rails will be on there....................;)

I personally recommend new gun purchases from local dealers if they can provide goods.

If you are looking for used handguns the forums can be a wonderful resources!

As far as internet sources, check out the forum sponsors before going 'foreign'.
