Anyone know anything about these guns from CDNN?

Hey there. I was looking at the new CDNN catalogue and I saw a shotgun I don't know anything about that caught my eye. I happen to be loosely in the market for a pump gun (about two months probably). I'll probably be getting a Mossy 500 or Rem 870 (more likely the 870). However, I saw a Diamond Panther Defense for $149.99.

I don't know anything about these. From the picture it does look like the materials may be on the cheap side but for only $150 I may be willing to chance it, who knows it may use cheap materials but execute everything just fine. This gun has an 18" barrel, 3" chamber (not that it matters, for HD I would only use standard shot shells), a removable pistol grip (in addition to a full synthetic stock), 5 shot mag, and is chambered for 12ga.

Anyone out there own one? What do you think? Anyone know anyone who owns one? Anyone know anything at all about these guns.

Well I don't know anything about this gun in particular, if you were just buying a range gun, I'd say go for it.

But since you want to use it for HD, I'd spend the extra 50 and get a mossy or better yet another 70 and get an 870. I got a used 870 express for $160 at a gun show.

That is probably what I'm going to do but I'm curious. By the time a dealer transfer fee and shipping are added the price will be around $200. Around here the Mossy is just under $250 and the Rem is just over $250. If this is a really nice, underrated gun, then I'll probably get it (I'll eventually get the others too, who says you can only have one- I have 8 handguns and 5 rifles so why would I settle with one shotgun). It may be interesting to simply have something that is a little different, and most shotguns that are a little different are on the high end not the low end. Basically, if this is the Hi Point Carbine (cheap materials but put together well, inexpensive but durable and reliable) of shotguns I'll probably get it. Otherwise, I'll either buy a new Mossy or 870 in about 2 months or possibly check the next gunshow or two for a deal on a used one.

Chiam,
Forgive the directness, but for HD use, why would you even in your cheapest dreams ever consider anything other than one of the big four.... do you have a death wish or sumpin? Buy an 870 or M500 and live happily ever after. Do you really want to stake your life on a Turkish shotgun afterall? I mean what history do they have in the gunmaking world?

Just my humble opinion.

Bruce.

Bruce,

I don't trust any gun for self defense until it has been tested. If it proves to be reliable after a few hundred rounds I don't really care who makes it, I'll use it. Until it has proven itself (or an 870 or 500 prove themselves) I would use my 1911 and .357mags for HD. Also, if I get this it won't be instead of a Remington or Mossberg, it will be first but they will still be added later.

This appears to be an interesting gun that will be something slightly different. Also, I am a substitute teacher right now so I'm not making that much money and if it proves to be reliable it will speed up my getting a shotgun in that it would save me a few bucks. Until I get a shotgun again I don't have any shotgun for HD. Would you say it is better to wait and have none than to get this? At any rate, until I get a shotgun (or a reliable one if I get this and it proves to be junk) I do have several workable handguns for HD (those listed in the previous paragraph, a 9mm CZ 75 which occasionally is used for HD, a CZ 40 that I could use, a .38spl, etc).
