Anyone know about Sigma firearms??

Just heard the police here are getting rid of their S&W .357 revolvers in favour of "Sigma" 9-mm semi-autos.

Can anyone give me a (brief) rundown on Sigma, please?

Where are they made? What are they like? and so on.

Ta in advance.

I own a couple of sigma's. These are S&W's answer to the glock. The early ones (both 9mm and 40mm) can be had in high-cap: 17rds for the 9mm and 15 for the 40mm (plus one in the pipe). Although many glock owners will argue, I like the sigma every bit as much as the glock, and at a fraction of the price too. I also like the trigger better on the sigma; the hinged trigger safety is more comfortable for me to shoot than the safety bar sticking through the middle of the glock trigger. Unfortunately, they're made by the company who sold their soul for 30 pieces of silver and a promise, so buy used, not new. ***please no flames from the glock crowd, I just prefer the feel of the sigma.

Also, if the local police are going to a sigma, it's probably the 357 sig not a 9mm.

CJViper, no flame here, but I've owned Sigmas (Sigmae?) and Glocks, and there's no comparison. The Sigma suuuuucked, trigger was nasty, kick was intolerable (and I'm not what you'd call recoil sensitive).

BTW, this really belongs in Handguns. Hang on, here we go...
