I'm moving to downtown Atlanta this weekend (2 blocks from Grant Park), and I'm wondering if anyone else around here is near the area, and know of any good gun ranges, shops, clubs, leagues, etc etc. I've searched Google, but I'd rather hear from actual people.

Although I haven’t had a chance to visit yet I’ve heard good things about Quickshot. There’s also a place called Range, Guns & Safes off I-85 which is decent, but while their ventilation is fine the A/C isn’t the greatest. Also, Stoddard’s was planning a range in Mid-Town somewhere around Atlantic Station I believe, but not really sure what the status is.

Like Barry Lee, I've heard very good things about Quickshot in northeast Atlanta near I285.

For outdoors, you might check out South River Gun Club near Conyers. Need to head east on I20 to State 20.

Other than that, can't help you for immediate area.

If you lived north, life would be easier: Sandy Springs Gun Club, Norcross Gun Club, Sharp Shooters in Roswell, Firing Line in Marietta, Wild West Traders in Marietta, River Bend Gun Club (must be a member but can participate in open monthly events such as Cowboy Action, IDPA, IPSC, Action Pistol, and various rifle events) and Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville (again members only but open to general events such as cowboy, IDPA).

Each that I've mentioned have good on-line info sites.

South down around Stockbridge (home of Ed's Public Safety the "official" outlet for Glock products) I believe a couple ranges exist.

It was my understanding, and I may be wrong, that Quickshot is the only inside the 285 Perimeter range. Others, please correct me if not true.

During mid morning traffic it really doesn't take long to get to someplace like the Sandy Springs Gun Club by taking 400 north to Exit 6; maybe a half hour.
Ditto for Quickshots in the northeast part of the city near 285.

So.....welcome to Atlanta!
