...anyone here build their own .50BMG...

I just purchased a new M2 barrel. Gonna piece some of the better designs out there for my own hybrid. Modeling it in AutoCAD. Local heatreat will relieve everthing with certs. I'm doing all my own turning, milling and tig welding headspacing etc.
Anybody else travel down this road, besides you Rock ;-)
In process perhaps.
...I would love to "feel" your pain
...was it worth it to you?

Yes, I built my own. I used ideas from the following:
locking lugs & extractor - Mark V Weatherby; safety - Win. M70;
bolt plug & bolt plug latch - Mauser G 98; recoil lug - Rem. M700;
fluted firing pin - MG34;
helical flutes in bolt body - McMillan.

To me, it was worth it. One of these days, I'll get a round tuit and shoot this gun in competition.
BTW, Rock, thanks for the compliments at the last FCSA match at Ben Avery.

Nope, but I hear a couple of posters here have...
You might want to ask Gale & Rock McMillan a few questions. I heard they've built a rifle or two. They might be able to give you a few pointers (if they can without giving away any trade secrets).

I image Rock and Gale are probably not really focusing on the "big fifty" these days. All our prayers are with them both.
Good tip though.
In my book there are two premier modern .50BMG builders in the US and fortunately for me they both have chosen AZ as their home base.

Heck Danger Dave, Trade secrets are what I'm angling for!
...and Dave Haven, from your photo you sent me; she sure is a beauty!

DZ,
That BFG .50 looks cool, but I'm skeptical of giving a deposit on a rifle that's not in production yet, to a start-up business. Has anyone here dealt with them before?
