Anyone hear the quote from Teddy the Fat?

He read from a speech by John Ashcroft, in which Ashcroft said essentially that "The First and Second Amendments protect us against a tyrannical government," and then stated "Only a madman would believe this!"

Teddy Kennedy just showed his TRUE colors.

Time to start phoning his office, folks.

Show this fat, drunken bastard that you don't get a pass for vehicular manslaughter even if you're a Kennedy!

Check out my thread "Senator Kyl Stomps Teddy."

Oh, hell, I'll post it here...

<snip>
Recall that Teddy Kennedy accused Ashcroft of being "outside the mainstream" when he claimed the Second Amendment was for fighting government tyranny. "Imagine," I paraphrase Teddy, "this government being tyrannical."

Today, Arizona's own Senator Jon Kyl spent his alotted time correcting all of the Demo Senators errors.

On a special note, to defend Ashcroft against Teddy's 2A statement, good ol' Senator Kyl quoted a famous Madison snippet from Federalist #46. Anybody care to guess which part? The winner may post it here.

Rick

A couple of guesses

"The advantage of being armed . . . the Americans possess over the people of all other nations . . . Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several Kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."
James Madison, Author of the Bill of Rights, in his Federalist Paper No. 46.

"A government that does not trust it's law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is itself unworthy of trust."
James Madison, Federalist Papers

I caught a bit of the confirmation hearings yesterday. During opening statements, Ashcroft was speaking and a group of protesters pushed through the doors chanting some nonsense. I stopped what I was doing to glance at the idiot box and the camera was on Ted the Greasy. The man never flinched! Never looked up, never showed the least bit of suprise over the incident. Which caused me to pause and wonder ... how did protesters get in the Senate Office Building, in the Large Hearing Room, at precisely the perfect time for a TV newsbyte of Ashcroft's statement and the "devisiveness" of his confirmation ???? HMMMM ....

Don't you wish you were a seated Senator who could lean over and say "Senator Kennedy, unless your government IS tyrannical you need not fear an armed populace, and if it IS, then you should be damned glad you have one."

V.

Ashcroft could've come back with "Senator, history proves that on average, a gun in the hands of an honest citizen will cause less death and suffering than a motor vehicle controlled by a Kennedy."

Or else, "Senator, if you believe in stronger gun laws, why did you personally intervene to get charges dropped when your alleged bodyguard was arrested by capitol police for possessing unlicensed submachineguns? Don't you think the laws should apply to everyone?"

Nah . . . when you're on the hotseat, it's probably best to let someone else zing "Chappquiddick Teddy"

How many think that the senate leadership chose " I can't drive by the water teddy" because he has an absolutely safe senate seat? He can say whatever he wants and it won't come back to haunt him come election time. They know they don't have a chance in hell of derailing Ashcroft for AG but they can use silly teddy to rant and rail.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) the conservatives tend to be of higher moral charecter than the libertines. Ashcroft would sooner bare his butt to the committee than sink as low as Kennedy

Personally, I would have looked ole roundo Ted in the eye and said "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it" ;)

But is it fair to pick on poor Teddy. He is the eldest survivor of a disfunctional family. They can't drive, fly, duck, ski or obey the laws. They just breed.

"They can't drive, fly, duck, ski or obey the laws. They just breed."

Sam...ya forgot, they also drink like fish

What goes around...

What do you expect of them? Born to wealth, power and privelege, worshipped by the masses and led by such a patriarch, how could they be much different?

I heard him as he uttered that remark. I wanted to puke. Actually, I wanted to give him a knuckle sandwich, but I only have one TV. I'll never understand the voters of Massachusetts. What irony: Drunk Teddy, the killer of Mary Jo Kopeckne, lecturing not only Ashcroft but the entire nation, on our our fundamental rights. With the runt of the litter in office, the Kennedy clan sinks abysmally into the sunset.

I second what sodbuster said. On top of that I heard him comment on the poor black kids trying to get an equal education..PLLEEEEASE...is this guy living on the same planet as the rest of us.I bet this is a running gag when ever the ole Kennedy's get together for some sailing and sunning at one of their various mansions.....Does anyone in the state of Mass. have a brain or do they just feel sorry for all of tragedy in the family and give him a lifetime pass to be a "servant" of the pitiful.Too bad he wasn't lost in the DARK,MURKY,WATER...

1. I did hear Senator Kennedy's offensive remarks -- Stupid, non-perceptive, and factually inaccurate.

2. However, I've seen a relevant bumper sticker that is absolutely true: "My handgun has killed fewer people than Teddy Kennedy's car".

Ashcroft should have said to the "Swimmer" from Boston, "Senator Kennedy, down where I come from when you impugn a man's character you are asked to step outside. I'd ask you to stand up and do the same only, in light of your past escapades, I'm not sure if you have any pants on".

That would get some laughs in the Committee chamber!
