Anyone have trouble w/Wilson Mags for 1911?

About a month ago I purchased a couple 1911 8rd mags for my Kimber and have had consistent feeding problems w/these mags. Before buying these, I used my 8rd Chip McCormick mags w/out a single misfeed. Shooting styles are the same and I can run one CM mag w/out a problem and then run a Wilson mag and always get a jam on the 7th or 8th round. Not sure what the trouble is... but f/what I've read and heard and also for the price of these mags I figured they should be the best.

Any suggestions or recommendations? Anyone else ever have trouble w/the Wison mags. This is not a slam or bash on Wison products in any way... I'm just trying to figure what my next step is. I hate to throw away $32/mag...

Thanks

Most have only great experiences with Wilson mags, so if worst comes to worst and you can't get them to work, you can always sell them pretty easily. I second the suggestion to call Wilson Combat; they will treat you right. Chip McCormick's PowerMags are very good as well, if you want to try another high quality magazine.

I've had problems with their eight round followers before. I only use the seven round magazines for social work.

I was shocked, but just last weekend: failure to feed the last round out of my OM's 7rd Wilson. Twice!! I was ready to sell the gun!

I've got 3 Wilson 8-rounders for my Kimber Classic and have had no problems at all. They're the only mags I use. I recently had my wife use the Classic to qualify for her CHL and got to see the Kimber/Wilson combination survive a couple hundred rounds of weak-wristing and flinching with no malfunctions at all. It was confidence inspiring. Ammo was Winchester and PMC 230 grain FMJ and JHP.

15-rd mags

I was surfing around, I forget where: i think Syd's 1911 sight, and found some 15-rd mags for 1911's/camp carbines, etc. I never heard any good things about reliability in extended capacity mags.
Any good ones out there?

Generally speaking, from what you will find on the forums is that Wilson mags generally seem to work best across the board of 1911s. That being said, guns have their own personalities and yours may not like Wilson mags. Find what works in your gun and use it.

I've never had problems with Wilson 8 rounders in any 1911, but anything can happen. If you think the problem is the gun, try different mags and if it still doesn't work right send it back to the factory. If you think the problem is with the mags, call Wilson, they are a first rate company.

A couple of the Wilsons that came with my Professional would bobble on the last round. Fixed the problem by replacing the mag springs with part #266,45 spring/followers.

Tamara...

is that a Wilson part # or some other? Where do I get them and how much $$? Thanks for the help. This is my exact problem.. now that you mentioned that... it's always on the final round.

I only use the 7 round follower. I find it to be more reliable in my guns than the 8 round (concave) follower. YMMV.

I used to have a problem with jams on the last round using Wilson 8 round mags in my GoldCup. Called Wilson, they were real nice. Sent me a whole bunch of parts while trying fix the problem.

This was eventually fixed when Colt replaced my slide for one that fit better. Old one had a nice overhang above the grip safety and was also loose as he!!.

Never had a problem since.

I've had problems feeding the last round in the 8rnd mags, from what I understand it's not uncommon and seems to relate to the 8 rnd mag springs weakening over time. I replaced with new springs, and the problem went away. For a while. Now I use the wilson's for practice, and keep CMC power mags for the carry stuff.
