Anyone have success with a good ankle hoster for small frame revolver?

I almost exclusively carry my Ruger LCR in the appendix carry and just have my shirt cover it whether summer or winter. There are a few times for work that I have to have a tucked in shirt and would like to have an ankle carry option. Comfort is important but I won't carry like this all day. Just looking for something that's not real bulky though I don't exactly wear skinny jeans. Galco has a leather and nylon option that has pretty good reviews but they are pretty proud of those things ($). Any luck? Thanks!

Kramer puts out the best I've found.
If you're looking for a $19 special, don't bother, but if you want excellent quality, go there.
Worth every penny.

While you're shopping, consider that your legs are pretty much in constant motion, the rig has to be comfortable, stay put in place without rotating or flopping loose, and it has to be secure enough on both leg AND gun to retain itself AND the gun under conditions that could conceivably involve running for short distances.

Also has to deal with dust & possibly moisture in rain or snow.
It is not a good place to cheap out.

i had a good ankle holster, a DeSantis, but i just could never get comfortable wearing it. it always felt to me like a squarrel was wrapped around my leg. plus if you sit or bend over to pick up something your pants leg can rise up enough for it to be spotted

I currently have two ankle holsters for my S&W J-frames:
an Uncle Mike's inexpensive nylon

It works very well for a lightweight revolver. I haven't had a need to use a calf-strap with this combination.

The other ankle holster I'll alternatively use is the Galco "Ankle Glove".

I saved some money by finding a lightly used one on Ebay. The version I wanted had no thumbstrap. I did end up spending even more money on it, however. When I wear it around a duty boot, I needed to buy an optional extender as the standard diameter was too small. The holster works fine without the extender if just going around my ankle w/sock.

A holster which didn't work well for me was the Fobus:

Fobus has made some changes over the years, but I've not tried it again. The problem was (and perhaps still is a problem) the velcro-type strap was just too thin of a material. The strap would bunch-up in its buckle. Although similar to the Uncle Mike's in function, the strap was unsatisfactory to me.

Another holster I can only give an honorable mention is the DeSantis "Apache" holster:

I don't have one for a revolver but have used this holster for a Glock 43. I did have to put some moleskin material on the thumb-snap as it can rub into my calf right through the skin.

With all ankle holsters, I've found it important to find just the right spot to avoid the ankle bone and not rubbing on my calf. There are other brands out there but I've just never gotten around to buying and using them.

I've used a Galco ankle glove (with thumb snap retention) for over 15 years to carry my S&W 642 back up gun on duty. Always comfortable and secure despite running, jumping fences and fights. It does take about a week to become accustomed to the extra weight on the ankle but after that, you don't even think about it.
