Anyone have RA...

I have it in both hands. I still shoot handguns, rifles and play guitar:D

It is becoming harder to do the older I get ( 69 now ).

Geetarman:D

Degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my back and hips.

This is one of the many reasons I set up a firing range at the house. You can continue to shoot, just have to make some allowances for it.

I have a golf cart that I use to set up/retrieve my targets. I have friends who will crawl under the deck to retrieve spent brass.

If pain is a part of the problem, you might also discuss with your doctor the possibility of a prescription for Cymbalta. I know - I know, this sounds like a commercial break during the evening news.

Cymbalta was initailly developed for depression, but it has been found as a great medication for helping with constant nagging pain. You will still be alert and OK to drive, shoot and etc. It helped me tremendously with pain prior to my recent knee replacements.

Congratulations for taking the Galaxy quest motto to heart: Never Give up Never Surrendor. I salute you for your efforts.

I had a Great Uncle who loved to fish. He had RA in his spine and knew he would be confined to a wheel chair. Before he became totally debilitated he constucted fishing ponds on his property. He included ramps and docks which allowed him to reach all parts of the ponds from his chair. Though in great pain he fished for 10 years from those docks.

You might want to add some form of retrival system for you targets. AN orchard to one side so you can pick off the odd White Tail who come to steal your fruit.

Good Luck God Bless

Good luck

It's the reason I hunt from a blind now and not still hunt like I used to.

Also why I do less offhand shooting and draw and shoot practice and more bench shooting. I still do it to stay in practice but for minutes at a time now instead of hours.

Getting old beats the alternative but it ain't easy.

Can't speak from personal experience but my mom.....

...had arthritus in her shoulders. About once a year she would borrow my BIL's .458 and put two rounds through it. One left handed. One right handed. She said it hurt like hell at the time but that her shoulder would be MUCH better for about 6-8 months... At which time she'd start working up the courage to do it again.
