Anyone have or shot a Z-M Weapons LR-300?

Guns magazine in March did a nice spread on the Z-M Weapons LR-300. It's a unique gas op design and it's nice not to have to worry about the spring in the stock. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Z-M?

I haven't shot one yet, but if you would please send one to me I would try it out and let you know what I think about it. :)

I hear that they are very nice. They also give you cool bragging rights at the gun club.

Thanks Q-man..."it's in the mail". Oh, and after your report, you just go ahead and keep it. It's on me!;)

Had brief exposure to one owned by a friend (about 100 rounds). Not one malfunction and very accurate. From my limited experience it seems like an improvement on the basic AR-15 design.

Does anyone know the legalities of building one of these on a pre ban lower? I for one would pay a preban price for a rifle to rebuild in this configuration.

If you're not in a state with more restrictive laws than the federal AW ban, then you should be perfectly fine. Check with your state's DOJ and make sure that lower is a pre-ban.

Just installed one on a Oly pre-ban lower. ZM sells "pre-ban" and post-ban" versions of their kit. The difference is that the post-ban's folding stock is pinned open.

I got the 11.5" barreled version and welded on a 5" CAR flash suppressor (to keep the legal 16" barrel length)- just like Bushmaster does. I also bought their optional folding/collapsable stock.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to fire it yet.

every time i get ready to buy one someone comes up with a preban HBAR or something that i can get for less than the ZM upper and stock kit but someday i'll have one....Dick
