Anyone have experience w/ FN Forty Nine handguns?

I noticed what appears to be a decent bargain at a local police supply store here locally... They've got NIB FN Forty Nine in .40 S&W for $300.

Anyone have any experience w/these pistols? Good or bad. Is this a good price or is there a reason these pistols are relatively cheap..??

Thanks all... what a wealth of information we have here.. :D

Try out the trigger. From what I hear (cuz i have not experienced it myself), the trigger pull likens to one dragging a tree trunk up Pikes Peak.

Were you at Crusier Tech on Admiral

I saw those there yesterday and I thought that was a pretty good deal for a new full size pistol.

ENC...

Yep.. that's the place. The guys who work in there seem to be knowledgeable and considerate... plus they like to shoot the bull a bit.

Went at lunch today and the trigger pull felt nice and crisp on the gun I was messing with. Am considering it... but not sure.

The FN Forty Nine is a good pistol. I hasn't really taken off because it wasn't introduced into the polymer scene until long after the Glock, HK, etc. Also, supply of the pistol has been low. The demand for it just hasn't been there in the U.S. mkt. Buyers are happy w/ their Glocks and others, and don't see the need to adventure into the FN Forty Nine.

I have fired one of the guns and it was a very nice operating pistol. Yes, the trigger is different than a Glock, the pull is longer, but it is efficient.

For $300, for a .40 pistol, with quality, I say go for it...I would.

I've only held one and dry-fired it. It was a .40 and had a sweet/smooth trigger, the smoothest of any DA trigger I have ever pulled. It was @ $300 bucks at that shop I was in. Took it apart and it looked built to last. Not sure on how they perform in the realworld though. I would get one too.

I have one and I can say I just have never cottoned to it. It is reliable, well made, and accurate enough to get you through the night. In my hand there are better 40 S&W pistols. Which do I like better? The Browning High-Power, CZ40 B, and Glock 27. Regards, Richard
