Anyone have carry advice?

Here's one you may not have heard before, or maybe you have...I use a wheelchair, and I'm looking for the best most effective concealed carry rig. So far the most effective method I've found in a crossdraw in the front of my pants. (I'm also a lefty) This works well, but I have to wear an untucked shirt, with is not possible during working hours. any suggestions??

Since the untucked shirt method is a concern, I'm going to assume you aren't wearing a jacket at work. That eliminates the horizontal shoulder rig.

Some ideas that might work:

1. Belly band worn crossdraw under your tucked in shirt.

2. Fanny pack either on your person or clipped to the strong(left) side of your chair

3. An ankle rig worn on the inside of your right ankle.

The Kramer Undershirt is effective for carrying a small, lightweight gun such as the Kahr PM9 but not for a heavy gun. Also, at $43 per shirt, it's a bit expensive to buy several. If you only have one or two, the constant washing (it's an undershirt so you have to wash it after each use) wears them out quickly. Also, I've found that the "holster" band that is sewn to the shirt tends to come loose after about a month. You can sew it back on each time if you are good at doing so but it is a headache. I have one but only use it when I have absolutely no other carry option.

My advice is to avoid any method of carry that requires two hands to draw. Regular cross-draw sounds good.

Coronado Leather http://coronadoleather.com/ makes a number of vests that work well for concealed carry. They can be used both right and left handed and are of excellent quality. Because they are of excellent quality they can be worn as good looking, functional outer wear. Also, because they are of excellent quality they are expensive but they will last darn near for ever.

Is there some type of "accessories" pouch (saddlebag) you can attach to the chair that wouldn't seem out of place? Ordinarily I wouldn't advise off-body carry, but I'm guessing you probably wouldn't be easily seperated from your chair in the manner that a day planner holster or purse might be.

It would be comfortable, accessible, non-wardrobe dependant, and innocous in appearance.

pick up an outside the waistband holster for your firearm, and have it mounted to the outside of the left armrest panel on your wheel chair. You can cover it with a small "tray table" or "ditty bag", or a "hollow" kleenex box. The weapon will be close to the wheel, which will be close to your hand, and EVERYONE is used to seeing folks in wheel chairs with their hands on/near the wheels.

You might like a Kangaroo. It's a band that fits under the shirt at the pectoral line. Inexpensive as well. Look it up on the net. Slainte.

Thanks boing, I do use an accessories bag sometimes, but usually they are positioned so that it would be kind of slow to pull from. Jayb, I like your idea as well, although I have no armrests on my chair. I have a very lightweight, mobile, sports chair, which makes concealing a holster all the more difficult...lol...I never make things easy...This is why I've been looking for the ideal carry rig for several years. Thanks for all the help!
