Anyone have any experience with Truglo Maxus?

Well, found 1 single review of any sort, a Shooting Times quick write-up... Was fairly favorable. So, for as cheap as it is, I bought one, and I will post here what I think of it, then. Hopefully a case of a new product being priced super cheap to move them and get the name out, otherwise I just bought a pile. Of, well, you know.
 
So it arrived today. 3-9x44

The finish is nice, along with a DNZ Reaper mount, I doubt it'll ever move, it's textured, and looks nice. Came with clear front and yellow rear flip up see through covers. Has very good eye relief, and even at high magnification doesn't get "tunnel vision". Optical quality is pretty nice, better than the $100-200 scopes I have played with, barring the Nikon Buckmasters. The only issue I see yet is it has a bit of fish-eye around the edges, the image right around the edge compresses a bit while entering or leaving your view. Really, for $80, I don't give a crap. It is very clear through the entire magnification range, with a nice reticle, really I feel I got a good deal on the scope.

I am mounting it on my Savage 7mmRM, so give me a week or two, and I'll let you know if it can take a few hundred rounds of 3100fps 140gr bullets. I am not going to even attempt a box test, I personally doubt it would do anything respectable, and for the price, I think that's fine. I only expect it to hold a zero, and stand up to the 7mm recoil over time.

I have to say, the DNZ Products 1 piece scope mount is pretty sweet. Solid, light, alignment built in... I don't think I am ever going to use any other scope mount! Going shooting tomorrow, will report after I get back.
 
Does it hold zero as you change focus? That is the problem I have had with lower priced scopes. Zoom in, zero, and then zoom out and back in and no more zero.
 
Hmm, I haven't checked, I will by the end of the weekend. I normally just sight in on max power, and shoot on max power. I'll let you know asap.
 
Thanks, I need a new scope for my .243 for deer season but the budget is very tight. Was planning on making do with what I have but if I can pick up something better for under $100 I might look into it.
 
Sorry for the long wait... Yes, it holds zero from 3 through 9 power, checked it on each setting. I am certain that if it hadn't, I would have been able to fix it with just a call to Truglo.
 
I have had it for a while, and the rifle has seen about 150 rounds. Last weekend, I took it out for some fun shooting, and the crosshairs are off.

Basically, the crosshairs are out of focus. You can focus on them, and the target is blurry, or you can focus on the target, and the crosshair is almost invisible. Switching focus from one to the other, the rifle still shoots good groups, although not as good as when the scope is working right...

So, time to test their warranty!
