Anyone have a picture of a Stoner?

I'm reading a book called GOOD TO GO; a nonfiction account of Seal Team Two written by Harry Constance.

Constances' favorite rifle was the Stoner. I've read about them; apparently they were belt fed, but I don't recall having ever seen a picture.

Anybody got a link to a photo, or experience with this rifle?

The stoner could be assembled in different configurations for different tasks......you should be able to "search" using one of the search engines for a picture. It was an interesting concept and an expensive one. Ive never had the pleasure of shooting one so idont know first hand but ive been told that they were finicky when dirty......fubsy.....

Thanks, guys. The picture of the Stoner 63A looks closest to the weapon on the book cover.

I gather that this rifle shot 5.56mm?

Yes the Stoner 63 and the Stoner 63A were the weapons used. The Stoner was actually a weapon system. They could be made up in one of many variations, as posted above; left-hand belt-feed, right-hand belt-feed, M16 magazine feed etc. They could be made up into a carbine, rifle, SAW, LMG etc also.

Greetings,

Funny you should mention your book. I just bought a book called Rogue Warrior, by Richard Marcinko, "founder of Seal Team Six." One of the photographs is of the author and one "Harry Humphries . . . on the on the eve of TET, 1968, as our PBR pulled upriver for Chau Doc." Harry, from AF/CQC, is this you?

Regards,

Ledbetter

Here ya go.

Those are great links, and gave me the info I wanted. Thanks to all.

Ledbetter, the guy that wrote the book I'm reading never worked with Marcinko in Viet Nam, although there is a photo in the book of Marcinko and the author (Harry Constance) at a Seal Team reunion in VA.
