I know it is not cool to buy Colt at this time.I was considering a Kimber Compact ( as I want a 4" or 4 1/4" slide and Officer size frame) but do not want to spend the extra money replacing all the MIM parts. I do not trust them in a defensive handgun. (I have an mechanical engineering degree and know a little about the subject- enough to not trust these parts when used in high stress applications). The Colt which is currently being manufactured in limited quantities uses all Chip McCormick internals (trigger, sear, extractor, disconnector and grips). My question is does anyone out there have one of these new Colts and how do you like them? While the 1/4" longer slide does not seem like much I think it balances better too( on the Colt). Gun Test magazine voted the CCO slightly better than the Kimber (more accurate). Combat Handguns claimed the CCO (new model really called the Concealed Carry as stamped on slide) did 1.5" at 75 yards (Nov.99 issue).Colt now has dovetailed front and rear sights and Chips standard Rose wood grips sure looks better than Kimbers. These Colts are being produces on new machinery and tolerances are very tight. If anyone thinks I am making a mistake by going with the Colt over the Kimber please give me good reasons besides politics. Also, not sure but does the Colt still have the cheap plastic mainspring housing like the Kimber?
