Anyone go thru the CCW process in Delaware? Please help...

Hello everyone. I am new to guns, but am considering getting a CCW license in the future (after a lot more shooting practice). I bought an SA XD-9 sub-compact w/ the CCW in mind. I started looking into the 11 Del. C. § 1441 for the requirements, and have some questions. Please note: I'm not trying to be too personal or nosy. I figure that being a licensed CCW is a "hush hush" thing, and people probably don't want everyone to know they carry. I'm just looking for any help or input from anyone who went thru the process. I want to know what to expect (questions, cost, etc.), and how to do things right.

1. How much does getting fingerprinted cost?

2. Do they need official passport pictures, or just in the "style" of the passport? Would digital pictures, modified to size, etc. be acceptable?

3. What kind of specific reasons do they look for for you to justify to them that a CCW is needed? I don't deliver goods in bad neighborhoods, nor am I under constant threat by any BG's. But, there was a shooting outside my house last year, and I'm surrounded by very "questionable neighborhoods" in my area....

4. Where did you take the required Gun Course, and how much did it cost?

5. Did anyone go through the whole process, only to be denied by the judge at the end? What was the reason? Or, if you were approved, what do you think convinced the judge you were in need of a CCW?

I guess I'm just worried that I can go through all this, pay out all the money, and be denied at the very end because I'm not "needing" a CCW (according to the judge).

Thank you for your help and comments. I appreciate everyone on this forum, especially being a newbie to guns and shooting and everything related to this fascinating hobby.

I went through the process. It cost me $300 and took 4 months from start to finnish:

Finger prints $60
CCW course $150 now.
Passport photos $12
Notary $5
Application fee $40
license fee $34

Your reasons sound good, and the judge seldom denies one if you are a lawabiding citizen. The training course can now be taken after you get your approval.
