Anyone familiar with Markwell Arms

I have an old kit gun my neighbor gave me. It is a Markwell Arms .45 Hawken style rifle. I blued the barrel and did a little work on it. I am thinking about customizing it a little and getting it shooting. The neighbor had never put it together so it had never been shot.
Are these guns junk?
Some of the parts are really generic. The lock plate is just flat brass with no etchings or design.

My first smokepole is from Markwell Arms. As you know, it's made in Spain. Nothing fancy, but it's a good starter gun. You might want to silver solder an underlug beneath the barrel instead of completing it as a "longrifle" which it isn't. The underlug will give it a "Hawken" like look.
