Anyone ever use FLITZ in bore?

At the local gun shop today and overheard a salesman saying that he heard Flitz was good for polishing bores. ??? I've used it for removing external rust (works great), but a bore polisher? Can anyone shed some light on this?

TIA

Yup... I've used it as a great bore cleaner, and recommend it to anyone interested in bore "break-in", as a pre-treatment. Clean thoroughly, dry, and apply Flitz to a bore-mop. Short-stroke for about 25 times thru bore. Wet patch out, dry again. Don't expect anything but black from Flitz, you won't get white patches until its all out.
I use it from time to time to remove any crud that may have escaped regular cleanings. The joys of overbore cases...:D

A Word to the Wise

As swifter has stated, Flitz is really good for "Pre-break in".......
That said, it's NOT for regular cleaning, especially in a custom barrel.
In fact, I would not use it at ALL in any barrel except a factory tube.
It will ruin the bore with regular use.
It is an abrasive, and will round the corners off the rifling..........
The reason it comes out black, is the fact that it is removing STEEL from your tube.
This is not, powder fouling, or other fouling.
Same goes for JB's, Rem Clean, PSP............same results, over a longer period of time.
So, use judiciously, and on a very irregular basis.
Chemical solvents are the only way to fly to keep your barrels in top condition.........
Hoppes 9, Shooters Choice #7, Butch's Bore Shine, for powder fouling, and some copper removal..and Sweet's 762 for the rough stuff.

When I get a new gun, or a "new" mil-surp, I use Flitz one time to get the barrel as nice as I can. I agree with the comment that steady use will probably wear out your barrel, use it sparingly.
