Anyone ever replace a H&K barrel with one from Jarvis?

Gopher a 45

Hello all. New here, so please let me duck behind the berm between shots! Anyhow, I've got a USP 45c which I like and it's had probably 6000+ rounds thru it (it's the only handgun I've got right now, but I hope to change that soon!). After only about 250 rounds, I noticed that there was an actual shallow indentation in the right side of the chamber, as if an ejecting case had somehow damaged it. I always thought brass was softer than all that. Worse, there was an actual chunk, although a tiny one, missing from the chamber immediately below the indentation. I was disturbed, but people (I won't name names) convinced me this would smooth out. It never did, but it doesn't seem to affect accuracy. Now, before you accuse me of running some ++++++P loads thru it, this happened with factory ammo, though I've since run everything under the sun thru it with no problems. Yes, I feared for safety, but I ran the lightest loads I could get away with for some 500 rounds and gradually worked my way up (nervously!) and watched for signs of distress, but the problem never changed, better or worse. So, finally the question. I was thinking of getting a replacement bbl and since I've heard awful things about H&K customer service, does anyone have an opinion about Jarvis gunsmithing as a source of extra bbls? It's too hard to find parts for USPs, which is my only real complaint about them.

I currently have seven USP's in various conf's and calibers. I didn't think you could improve accuracy, I was wrong. I have a Jarvis threaded barrel installed in my duty gun and it is very accurate. No problems with reliabilty at all. Yes, HK sucks for customer service and parts. The Jarvis barrel works great, and I highly recommend it.

Can any one of you post a contact for Jarvis?

I shoot my USP a LOT and expect some day to shoot out the barrel thus I have been wondering what I will do when that time comes. I certainly do not expect to be able to get a spare barrel from HK...

Thanks.

CMOS, here is the info. I talked with Jarvis a while back and they said the threaded barrel for a 45c was around $200 plus shipping, which is why I wanted an opinion on it before I shelled out the cash. They also make a drop-in .400 CorBon, but I thought I'd stick with the .45 myself. Cheers.

Bummer, they don't seem to handle the 9mm USP Compact or the full size.

I have used a Jarvis barrel in an H&K USP Match. The barrel was purchased to provide a shorter tube for carry purposes.

The barrel performed beautifully! Functioning was 100% and accuracy was excellent.

FWIW, I owned a .40 USP for a while and had a spring break. Called them, explained what had happened, sent it back, returned two weeks later repaired.

Sold the USP because I didn't like it, but it was a good shooting gun. If your barrel is showing that kind of problem I'd at least contact H&K.

Gopher,

Why don't you give HK customer service a try before anything else? If you are the original owner you have a lifetime warrantee - you should at least have HK take a look.

Experience and decide for yourself if their service really sucks. But the alternative of spending a few hundred $$$ makes it worthwhile to give HK a try first.
