Anyone ever made a pressure switch?

Hello all! I am a new member to the boards but have spent some time lurking off and on for quite a while.

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried to make their own pressure switch for use with a red dot type sighting system?

I did a search on this but didn't see anything on it.

It seems to me that actually aquiring the switch itself is the hard part in all of this so any help would be greatly appreciated. I've looked all over trying to find something similar to the switches that come with some sighting systems but have had no luck.

At any rate thanks in advance and happy shooting!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have tried to find these at electronics places and haven't had any luck because everything I have seen so far has not been designed with the outdoors in mind and would end up being succeptable to corrosion.

I think I may just need to contact a few of the companies that manufacture these and see if I can purchase just the switch.

If you want to seal a switch for outdoor use, you can carefully coat them with the rubberizing compound you can get in the hardware area at WalMart. It is designed for dipping handles of tools into for a plastic coating. Costs $6-$8 a can, many colours availible. Be careful not to over-coat or cover contact points. good stuff, many uses.

Charmedlyfe: That is truly an excellent idea! I don't know why it never dawned on me to do that.

Thanks so much for the idea!

This board is really a wealth of knowledge and I sure appreciate having it as a rescource, I hope I'm able to give some of that back sometime.
