Anyone ever heard of "Super-X" brand ammo being re-packaged?

My dealer gave me a box of .357mag "Super-X" with the S&W m66 I just talked him into selling me (his personal gun). He said it is pretty hot loaded stuff. Anyone ever hear of it? It is not in the standard packaging of thw Winchester rounds so I was wondering if anyone has heard of them being hand loaded and repackaged.

I am not sure, it just came in a brown paper box with a printed band around it that just says "Super-X .357 magnum, handgun cartridges" on it. I am thinking they might be re-packs like Double Tap or something.

right load on .357?

HI Peng,

I load my .357 S & W with 125gr for SD and any old .38+ for target.
"I know nothing"[ -Schultz, on Hogan's Heros], but what I read and all the pundits claim that 125 grain is the killer load. It's all online here and there. Cost me a lot and time to find the info and the round, all i can say it sounds and feels right in my wheelgun.

Enjoy the gun,

Max

I'm not saying this is what the deal is with your ammo PPB but...

I've seen non standard packaging when an ammo manufacturer sold large lots of ammo to law enforcement agencies or the military. They often packaged them in boxes that were not what you'd see commercial ammo up on sale for in your local gunatorium. I've seen plain white boxes marked Winchester. Brown marked UMC, etc.

Could be the case with your box. Look at the headstamp.

tipoc,

I just received an e-mail from an old retired LEO that said the same thing. He said that was how they looked when they were shipped to his agency. :)
