I got mine in December, and I don't know If Ive ever had such a fun gun, and
man its drop dead gorgeous too! Its the Lipsey's exclusive ss 4 5/8" barrel.
Accurate too with cci mini-mags, I can keep it on a dime at 15 yards,
and on a quarter at 25 yds. Anyone else love their single six? What do ya
love about it? :D :D :D

Heres mine.

Squirrel gun

I bought mine back about '66 or 68. Used to hunt squirrels with it. Fixed sights but right on out of the box. Still have it. Love it. NOT for sale.Has mag cylinger also. Great gun........MUTT.

Great guns

These are great guns!! I have two of them both early three screw models. I think Ruger did a dis-service when they went to the transfer bar system on these, I know it is safer, but if the "old models" are loaded properly, they are fine!

How so? I notice little difference in function, other than loading and unloading the gun and the lack of a half cock(which isn't needed with the loading gate trip). I myself like the new model Ruger SA's, as for field carry(which I do a lot of; backpacking, camping, wild animal checks, etc) you can't get any better.

Anywho, I plan to get a Single Six and a Vaquero as soon as I get the funds. Personally, nothing beats the duty use of any quality SAA clone :D

I have one that my dad bought when he was 12, Great gun, still shoots great. Seems like everyone I know has a Single Six, it's just one of those must have guns. Needless to say, our Single Six will be in the family for a long long time.

It was worth being in the doghouse for this

I had a hard time justifying why I HAD to buy this...Beretta Stampede 45 Colt

I remember Dad showing me the neatest revolver, A blued single six wood grips, in the early 60's. Later, a few years latter, I was alowed to take it to an indoor range. Jr NRA shooting. I fell in love with it. Now Dad has since left us, but I still have the ruger. I always thought a larger "bullet" gun would be nice! Have since added the 45 vaquero, 32 nm and a 44 sbh. Guess what! Still love that single six and that old timmer that gave it to me.
good shootin
kid

Well I guess I will have to be different.Wanted a Single six since Ruger started to make them.Moved to a state I could have one.And have to say I HATED it,I couldn't shoot that thing no matter what I did.But was me let anyone shoot it it shoots fine.I finally just got rid of it but do have three Blackhawks I love :)

Yes , you can include me in the Single Six pure Happiness crowd! Have owned mine since 1999. Why I did not buy one sooner is beyond me? Here is a 25 yard group of 40+ shots shot from a standing position using bulk Federal from Wal-Mart. The Single Six rarely stays home when it is time to visit the range!

I've also got a blue 4" -- LOVE it! I know some people prefer the S&W or other Ruger .22s but this one is a work of beauty. I don't mind the single action and I love the cowboy look. I'm planning on getting another one in blue, with a 6" barrel.

I think they are beautiful revolvers. But, I find that I usually grab the double actions for casual shooting due to the ease of loading and unloading. I rarely fire them in double action except for fun on a tin can or something. :)

I am turning into a Ruger man myself. It started with the mini-14, then a SBH in .44mag Like my pops, Then a P97DC, On lay away is MarkIII, after that is going to be a GP-100. Too Bad I don't like their politics. Such a shame, I hate politics.

I do love mine. Blue, 6.5".
For some reason, it doesn't shoot too well with LRs though. I only get about 4" at 25 with CCI Mini-Mags. Maybe it just doesn't like the Mini-Mags? Shame, the 22/45 love them. But with the Magnum cylinder in, it'll shoot into a quarter at 25 with Winchester ammo. So mostly, the magnum cylinder rides in it, which doesn't bother me a bit.

I was 25 when I bought my Ruger SA Six! That was (hang on I'm counting) 44 years ago. I used it for fast draw competition, and it was deadly. I think I may have lost it during my first divorce settlement in '72.

Thanks for that post. It brought back allot of memories...
