Anyone else like the light snubs chambered for the .32 H&R Magnum?

I have two. I like this round. Pretty speedy at the muzzle (1100 FPS) and even at 50 yards out, is still going 1020 FPS. Around here, the ammo is not difficult to find. I like Federal's Classic "Hi-Shok" jacketed hollow points. At the speed they're going, the bullets seem to open up every time. I have a model 331 AirLite Ti and the recoil is pretty easy. Especally from an 11.9 ounce revolver. It's hard to imagine firing a .38 Special +P from a revolver that light, and a .357 seems like it would break your hand! The other one is a Taurus UltraLite. It weighs 17 ounces and is a breeze to fire.

P.S. A lever action rifle in .32 mag would be great!!

I would like to see both a light snubby in .32 H&R in a 7 or 8 shot, and a steel 4" Kit gun in the same.

Would beat a .25 or .32 ACP auto all hollow, without much more bulk.

The .32 S&W long is a neat caliber and I heard it does great out of the .32 Mag revolvers, so I picked up a rather pricey 4" Mod 16 in .32 Mag today. I'm a kit gun fan though, and am still looking for a J-frame in .32 Mag. I second the request to spread the word on .32 Mags, and .32's in general. A fun and ACCURATE revolver caliber.

I am heading in that direction. Had a 342PD Ti that was just plain NO fun in .38. Now I have a 15 oz. M38. Funny how just 4 or 5 oz. makes such a big difference in comfort and control! I would really like to see a Bodyguard style PD with HiViz front Titanium in the .32H&R! I really want to try the .32.

I bought my wife a 331 two years ago, but she has never fired it. I have recently started substituting it for my 338 for Thunderwear carry. As far as recoil, you are rght. The Federal loads are not too bad. Move up to the Georgia Arms 100 grainers and they pack a good wallop.

Model 16?

Not to divert the thread, but what frame letter is the Model 16?

The J-frame 332 is such a nice pocket pistol! It works well in cargo shorts, bicycle jersey pockets, fanny packs, etc. It is so light that it seems silly to put it in a holster that weighs nearly as much as the pistol!

I'd like to find a few more Magsafe 32 HR Magnum rounds so I can test fire them against the Hi-shok Federals.

This round Im fairly ignorant too...but Ive looked into them and it sounds like a great little caliber.
From what Ive gathered so far...from some guns the energy created by the round is neck and neck with the 38+P from a snubbie. Just lighter and faster. (Here we go again) :D
I remember a snubby being made that was actually a smaller frame than the smaller 38's which would be a great benefit also.
Id like to shoot one....sounds like a great little gun.

Shoot well

Chipster...

I like the 331 so much, that sometimes I think about buying a 332 (concealed hammer centennial model) too. As for Magsafes, I ordered a few six-packs of them from "Cheaper than Dirt". Only when they got here a few days later, they were EIGHT-packs. It was the first time I've ever seen Magsafes come with eight rounds, instead of six in the little bubble pack.
A friend and fellow member in Florida just sent me an e-mail last week and told me he had found an Airweight in .32 mag with a three inch barrel. He seems to get lucky at gun shows a lot. (No, not THAT kind of "lucky":D )

P.S. OK. I just went to my mail folder and the three inch barrel Airweight .32 mag that RJ purchased is a model 632.

I too have a Model 331 AirLite Ti that I really like. I have been a fan of the .32H&R for sometime now, as I had Gary Reeder build a sweet little Ruger Single Six in this caliber for me.

I carry the 331 with me as my primary CCW now. Since I reload for this caliber I can afford to shoot it a lot.

I would jump all over a Model 16 J-frame kitgun in a heartbeat, if the price was right. Might take the place of my Model 63 when I hike around on my farm.

Now, if we could just get Marlin to build a Model 39 or 1894 for us in .32H&R.:D
Regards,
Rich

I like those little .32 revolvers, but I have heard that .32 revolver ammunition was scarce and might become more scarce.

32's

I'm with Bods on this one ,the 32 is a way overlooked and accurate caliber! Ilove shooting my 4" m-16, and I like the 32 long that S&W made turn of the century(pre model 30's and 31's),which are a bargain if you are into collecting on a budget!
The m-16 is k frame size, The k-32 target masterpiece is a very hard gun find (both pre and post war), the k-32 combat masterpiece is even rarer , I have a line on one but I dont want a second on our house!

Haha, I used to have a Taurus 415T Titanium .41 magnum. Was a little snappy, but not too bad.

Roscoe...

If you don't mind, where did you hear about .32 revolver ammo getting scarce? For the second time, I have just contacted my man at Federal and he says that there are NO plans to discontinue the .32 H&R Magnum. I asked him to call me if he ever heard anything about that and his answer was, "Don't worry, Federal has no plans to discontinue any .32 at all".

I like 32's as sporting pistols. The S+W M631 4" 32MAG

shoots like a million bucks with either 32LONG or 32MAG.
My Ruger SSM 32MAG is among the most accurate sixguns I have ever shot.
My Dan Wesson 732 is also a tackdriver but snooty as all gitout with its' diet.
My Smith 32LONG sixguns all will shoot near an inch at 25 yards, including the 2" 32LONG M30.

Kentucky Rifle,

I was at a local (AZ) gun shop about a year ago looking at snub revolvers. I liked the S&W .32 but the counterman said he had heard that ammo might be discontinued (or hard to get). It was a pretty expensive little revolver, so I didn't pursue the issue like I should have. I like the high capacity and light recoil for my wife, so I ended up getting a .22 magnum Taurus snub instead.

Thank you Roscoe...

I thought it might be something like that. The gun shop guy was just wrong. (IMO.) More revolvers are being produced in .32 H&R Mag. (Like those Ruger Bird's Head Vaquero models.)
And you're right about the cost. Those S&W Airlight Ti's in .32 mag are quite expensive. (But I love mine. It's so light to carry, PLUS is powerful enough.) However, I don't think my Taurus 731UL .32 mag was any more expensive than a .38 Ultralite. And I find the recoil on either one of them to be quite light. Especially the Taurus 731UL. It weighs 17 ounces and is ported. The little S&W weighs in at 11.9 oz and is not ported. (Easy recoil though. My wife loves to shoot it. But then again, my wife will shoot anythng! I have to PRY my Glock 27 from her hands at the range!)

Terry: If you come back to this thread, could you please post a picture of that Dan Wesson 732? Is it a .32 long or .32 magnum?

Large diameter bullet + heavy weight = handgun effectiveness.

I would opt for a 38 or 9mm in a small package.
The 32 seems like an attempt to sell new cartridges, not really filling a niche imho, not to mention the added expense of the cartridges vis a vis standard 38 or nine mm.

If I wanted a plinker, which I think the 32 is, I would buy a snubby 22 LR like S&W has. It even has adjustable sights!
