Anybody use Auctionarms.com?

I've used AA a couple of times...been mixed. One guy backed out after I 'won'...said it was illegal to ship the mags for the firearm from his state.

The other was fine as far as price and auction.

so...like with any of them. Check feedback...Email/call and talk with the seller. Get it all clear before you bid. :)

I use Gunbroker Myself. Never had any problems with it. www.gunbroker.com
They are pretty strict on people keeping in line and keeping it legal. Plus they have a nice tracking system so you can see the feedback from people who have bought and sold from a person.

I used Auction Arms to get my weapon and I was very pleased with the transaction. Though, to be honest, I can only say that I was pleased with the person with whom I dealt (Ric Carlson)and my satisfaction with Auction Arms was incidental. I may as well have dealt with Gunbroker. I suppose what I'm saying is that, as Santanta said, check feedbacks and such. Both Gunbroker and Auction Arms are fairly large sites that would have, at this point, been shut down if they weren't on the level. They can both be found under my bookmarks and I check them both daily. Good luck to you!

I bought a rifle through AA. I got a great price, but by the time I worked through a transfer dealer and sent a certified check etc. it became a good price. I won't go through the hassle again for a few bucks if I am trying to get a readily available gun. Better to just go to WalMart. They will order just about anything for a fair price.

Transfer dealers have to collect sales tax here in CA, by the way.

Sold a lot of stuff on AA and had a couple of back outs but that is on all auction sites.Used to do a lot of ebay and just as bad there.Only bought one item and the deal was good with no problems.

I've used Auction Arms and Gun Broker a few times with good results. Make sure to check out the user ratings.

As MountainGun points out, a great deal can quickly turn into an average deal after shipping, tax, and transfer fees. I did, however, get a great deal on a Ruger All-Weather 77/44 a few months back - $362 total. :)

I've gotten a couple of really good deals via Auction Arms. But the transactions are only as good as the folks selling and buying there (the same holds true on all auction sites, gun and otherwise).

I agree with what was said about buying a weapon that is readily available just to save $20 or so, it's not worth the hastle. Don't forget to factor all the costs, selling price, shipping, AND FFL transfer fee. that $20 saving could become a $20 deficet.

And remember to look at the sellers rating. That will tell you alot. If you buy make sure you post to the ratings area also.

You can get some really good deals if you're paitent and choose wisly. DON"T get caught in a bidding war it defeats the whole idea of the site (not for the sellers of course). I bid early, with minimun bid and let nature take its course. I've gotten two really good deals this way and was amaized at getting them (eg a Tomcat for $75 less than the best price I could get from my favorite gun shop after factoring in purchase price, shipping and FFL transfer fee.) Average transaction time (from winning auction to gun in hand) about 10 business days.

Enjoy the auctions!

I've bought a couple items from this sight, without issue. I would agree with some of the prior posts about it being the individuals involved which makes or breaks the transaction. I use the sight to find old and/or hard to find stuff. Buying a Glock or something common from the sight doesn't make sense when I can go down to the local shop and handle/shoot/buy all at the same time. When you add in the shipping and the transfer fee charged by my local dealer, it adds around $40 to the cost, so if I can't get something for $75 less than I think it is worth, I won't bid.

Be careful about relying on user ratings on AuctionArms, the owners are known to go in and fidlle with ratings of friends and big sellers. They also took down their message board when they were caught doing it.
