Anybody tried Walther High-Caps in SW99?

Has anyone tried Walther high-capacity 9mm magazines in a Smith & Wesson SW99? I bought some of the Walther magazines before they were banned here in California, but I haven't got a pistol to use them in yet. I'm leaning toward the SW99 because of the smoother lines and lower price, but I'd like to confirm that the mags I have (which cost me over $90 each) will work in the S&W pistol.

I've heard lots of opinions - most say they "should work", and I know that Mec-Gar makes them for S&W using Walther's equipment, but I also got a e-mail from S&W saying they wouldn't work. So I'd really appreciate hearing from someone who has actually tried it. Thanks.

well i like your self would also like to know
if you want i would consider buying one of your mags or if you want to pay for shipping i will test the mag for you and send it back asap. I have the SW99 and it is a great gun, nice ,light, great accuracy and good ergos, if you are interested let me know i will get you my number and all. if you find out let me know thanks. Mike

How about going to the gun shop and testing them out for fit and ability to lock the slide back? I'm guessing baseplates are the difference. Swap'em with the Walther baseplates and it should be okay. If not, just buy the Walther and forget it. I bought some Walther hicaps too, but I'm leaning toward the Walther and not S&W.

Gunrunner,
Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested in selling any mags. I've got 3 and can't get any more due to California's recent law. And I think I'll pass on your offer to test one for me - I'm just not in that big a hurry. I'll just keep posting the question periodically until someone who has tried it responds (I would think ANYONE with a SW99 9mm would want at least one high-cap mag for it, wouldn't they?).

By the way, I ordered my Walther high-caps from Earl's Repair Shop (a big Walther importer). I think their regular price is $125 each or 5 for $500. Dealers get a little better deal. Also, I think Kentucky Imports advertises them for about $100 each.

I was pleased with what I got from Earl's (new in wrap as promised). Good luck.
