anybody tried Unique and PC lead in 300 Blackout?

Was wanting to try this combination to see how it works and wondered if anybody had tried it.

Was planning on using MBC 165gr coated bullets and enough Unique to make 1000 fps.
 
There are some Unique recipies floating around on 300blktalk.com. All Subsonic loads...NONE will function an AR rifle. Strictly bolt and single shot stuff
 
cant speak for unique. i generally use 4227 for plinkng in 300blk. i also use h110 for good power loads and lil gun for extreme power loads, but generally stick with 4227. i can speak of uing powder coat, and it works great. i cast the lee 230 and tumble PC, havent had any issues with leading.
 
Are you planning on using this combo in a bolt gun or ar? If it's a bolt gun there are virtually dozens of powders that's can be used for supersonic and subsonic loads. If in an AR then only a handful of powders to choose from and unique isn't one of them.
 
With a pistol gas length barrel and 190 grain and above weight bullets my top 3 go to powders are A1680, 4227, and RE7. All three will give you reliable bolt hold open both suppressed and unsuppressed.
 
It's an AR 14.5" pistol gas. May look at more conventional powders and heavier bullets.

Unfortunately, Unique is not going to function your AR (or any AR). Just not enough port pressure or gas volume to operate the action.

A1680 is the preferred powder for AR subsonics, but the Pistol length gas system you have makes some other worth looking at. 4227 is a good one to try. It can do subs and supers pretty easily.
