"On Sunday, 4/16/2000, I caught most of a program called Crime Strike on one of our cable channels. Out of the four or five crimes profiled, two dealt with individuals who refused to be helpless vicitms.

In the first case, a young stewardess, Jackie Banks, was home alone in her apartment getting ready for bed when two men in Halloween masks started banging on her door. Frightened, she dialed 911, but before the cops arrived the two men had broken in and attacked her. She broke from their grasp and locked herself in her bedroom. She then pulled the pistol she had and when the men broke into her bedroom, she shot at them. Results: one intruder dead, one wounded and in jail. Jackie recalled learning to shoot from her father and admitted that guns were not for everyone, but that her gun helped her save her own life.

Case two: James Acosta was a bartender, nearing the end of his shift, nearly ready to close. He went to his office to answer the phone and returned to find two men with guns demanding his cash. Realizing that these two HAD NO MASKS, and that he could easily ID them, he knew his life was in jeopardy. When he opened his cash drawer, he aslo grabbed a pistol he had hidden for such an incident. He came out shooting. Result: One dead robber, one wounded and in jail. However, James took two rounds himself, but recovered. Accoring to James, having a gun is not the answer for everybody, but having one SAVED HIS LIFE.

I have no clue what network, what channel, etc that this program was on. The credit gave no clue either. However, they gave an address for those who wanted their crime stories profiled:

Crime Strike, P.O. Box 4180, Hollywood, CA 90078

I'm sure that they'd appreciate feedback as well."
