Anybody own a Taurus M44, specifically 3"?

I've found a Taurus M44 .44 magnum with a 3" barrel. The dealer is asking $300. I need a .44 magnum for when I'm in the woods, and concealability is key because I'll be in some places that don't allow guns.

So if anyone owns an M44 I'd appreciate any feedback.

MattC58; Actually, I wanted one myself but it appears they were only made for a year or two then discontinued. $300.00 seems like a fair price. If I had $300 bucks I'd get it! Best Regards, J. Parker
 
I'll probably go for it. I was a bit worried about the barrel length--I'd kind of prefer 4". I looked around in the archives and most folks seem to think 3" will do the job in an emergency, with Randy Garrett's cartridges loaded.

Anybody have any other opinions?

I own a M44 with a 6.5 inch barrel, and I love it. However I'm a little confused...I thought the M44 only came in three barrel lengths...4, 6.5 & 8.375. http://www.taurususa.com/m44.html

Have I missed something here?

Apparently they made a 3" barrel a few years ago. I'm going to call them and find out exactly when.
