About to invest in a Kimber Pro Carry II (stainless) and would like to know your honest opinions on the gun. Also, what you paid for it so I can try and get the best price. Thanks a lot, Dave:D

Close. I carry a Kimber compact SS. I love the gun. It is utterly reliable, accurate, easy to care for and feed. No problems with concealment in an IWB holster. Hope you are as plaesed.

Still not exactly what you're looking for but I have a first generation stainless Pro Carry. Terrific gun. Very accurate, easy to handle and carry, very handsome. Gun Tests recently did a review on the Pro Carry II and had several malfunctions but a reader in the subsequent issue said he had the same problems and they went away after the gun broke in. Kimbers require more breaking in than say, a Glock or Sig, but after about 500 rounds it should be on par with just about everything else. That letter mentioned Tacoma, WA PD now issues the Pro Carry II model as their duty sidearm.

My only problem has been with Kimber mags, and I had the same problem with my Custom Target model. The mags that work are great but exactly 50% of the Kimber mags I had were crap. I kept the ones that worked and one bad one to practice my tap-rack bangs now and then. Look to get some Wilsons, they're not too outrageously priced (unlike the $45 I paid for a spare Sig P239 mag).

STILL not quite the same

But I love my Pro Carry I in aluminum (made from Coke cans, no doubt). Price was in low $700's, but that probably won't help you.

Very accurate, smooth operating, and worth every penny.

As already mentioned, mags can be a problem. I haven't had any loading/stripping problems in a while during shooting, but having difficulties with unloading a mag by hand still gives me the willies when that last round sticks.

Get after market mags if you're going to carry it or use as SD weapon.

Before you buy, please see a "Gun Tests" issue that came out 2 months ago. They tested the Kimber II's & had several malfunctions due to the new firing pin safety. When they contacted Kimber, they were IGNORED! Don't waste your money. Buy Glock, HK, Sig. If you must have 1911 design, buy Springfield.

Have a Pro HD II in 38 super. Approx 2k thus far. No major issues thus far. (Slide does not lock back 100% of the time - with my reloads - 100% with Win 125STHP. Sights ae low mount and took some getting use too. (Just personal preferance). Like the Rubber grips but I felt it need checkering on front strap. (30 lpi added). Gun was to point of aim out of the box.

I'm very happy with mine - Paid low 7's

:D

I have a Pro Carry II. It's the aluminum framed gun. I love it. Very accurate and comfortable to shoot. Fits my hand like a glove. To be honest my first 2K of rounds were problematic with FTRTB. It used to drive me nuts. I'd say 1 out of every 50 rounds. Shortly after 2K of lead it started to perform like I would expect from a Kimber. Again, it's accuraute as can be and now extremely reliable. It shoots everything I put into it. I have about 6K thru it now, and yes if I had a choice, I'd still get the Pro Carry. For me anything smaller than a Pro Carry would be too small. Almost forgot, I paid low 700s for it about 2 years ago.

I have a Pro Carry I with the alloy frame. It finally made up for the mistake I made years ago of selling a Colt Lwt. Commander. This Kimber is extremely accurate and easy to shoot. I only have one Series II (a full-sized Eclipse), and I have had the issue with no firing pin strike. I'm currently engineering a fix for that, since Kimber isn't even willing to admit there's a problem.
