Anybody own a Browning semi-.22?

Yup. Accuracy is better than I am (sans scope) & the cantilever scope mount seems odd somehow - perhaps it's the mounts I'm using. The button on the scope mount can mar the receiver's finish. Thought awhile back of having the bbl tapped for mounts & use a small scout/EER scope up forward so to preclude the use of the standard mount. Never got around to it.

You'll only mar the stock while loading if you're sloppy about it. No problems here.

Take down entails flipping a small lever/switch located just in front of the ejection port & turning the bbl vs receiver 90 degrees. Pretty slick.

A very lightweight, well-built rifle. I like mine a lot.

BTW, for storage, I use a gunsock - slide the bbl into the end, fold over & stuff the receiver into the end. An inner tube section bands the package together for transport or storage in the truck.

I've got one I bought used. Original owner seems to have bought it new, shot it until it got so dirty it wouldn't cycle reliably, then traded it off. Came with a Simmons 3x9 scope on the cantilever mount, on the factory tapped barrel. After considerable cleaning, it has proven itself to be remarkably accurate and reliable. Well designed and well made. Although there are some scratches and dings on the wood, the area around the loading port looks like new, so marring in that area doesn't seem to be a problem during loading. Loading is nice and easy. Assembly/disassembly is simple, and adjustable for wear so it always locks up solid. I can take it apart and reconnect the two halves in seconds.

E-mailed Browning and they sent me an owner's manual for free. It includes complete disassembly and reassembly instructions and photos. Unusual in this day and age. I'm thinking of buying a new one I like it so much. A little pricey new, but I really don't think you'll be disappointed.
