Anybody heard of a mossburg model 80DL

I know that is what the model was but I am not sure. I had a gentleman looking for a scope mount for one. I did not know what to recommend to him as I can't find a record of the guns existence, Must have read it wrong

Any info?

Do you mean a Marlin Model 80DL?

I believe it takes a scope mount like this.

Yes I do mean Marlin

and thank you very much!!. I think he is in his later 80's now and wanted a scope powerful enuf to take out the rabbits eating his garden. (probably 50-60 yds. I was hoping to get him a mount where he could keep his peep site on but the mount screws are in the side and he did not want the gun drilled and tapped

Marlin 80DL were not drilled for bases, nor did they have the 3/8" tip-off grooves on the receiver. He will have to have the rifle drilled and tapped, then buy bases.

And yes, you may have to use a side mount.
