Anybody have Glock 22 & Steyr M40? Which is better?

I'm wondering if any of you out there have both these guns and can give me a compare and contrast?

I hear that the Steyr is more Glock than Glock, so I was hoping someone can give me a rundown of the major subjective differences like felt recoil, ease of shooting etc..

Also, Does the Steyr have a polymer guide rod, or is it plastic? It looked like polymer from what I saw last time, but then it could have just been brushed plastic?

I purchased the Steyr 40 several days ago.
Why I prefer it above the Glock :
it has a shorter crisper trigger pull than the Glock, the M40 has less felt recoil and has a lower bore axis than the Glock.
It has a supported chamber and you can safely shoot lead bullets (not recommanded in Glock).
I just like their triangular-trapezoid sights.
Check out the site www.sydwdn.win.net/1911/lib/review/steyr40.htm
Hope this can help

Thanks Wild Bill,

Can you tell me a little more about the guide rod? Is it polymer or is it plastic?

I greatly enjoyed the article.

I'm not sure but think it is plastic.
If you have any questions about the M40 e-mail me ; next month I will meet the inventor of the gun W.Bubbits.
I met him at the gun show in Nurnberg.
He warned me that the gun needed a real breaking-in time.
Shot mine today ; very accuarte and reliable.
As a 1911-fan I dind't liked the Glock (don't liked plastic guns in general) but now I think I'm sold on this one!

I can compare my M40 to a I believe was a Glock 26 or 27. It was a compact 40 cal. I can better control the M40, the sights were vastly superior to the over/under sights on the glock, I don't know if all glocks come with that setup, but I did not like it. My M40 has been finicky during the breakin period, especially if used after several hours storage in subzero weather. Doesn't like S&B ammo, but is very accurate with Magtech. Good luck.
