Just recieved mine from Classic , using my C&R. I immediately liked the lines and balance upon seeing it out of the box. Cleaned it up this morning before work- let me just say plenty-o-grease! Anyway, went to shoot it at lunch and it would not feed GRRRRRRRRR. Later I pulled everything back apart and everything seems to be fitting tight and in the right place. The magazine seats well, the bolt picks up a round but it hangs up after the nose has entered the chamber. It almost looks as if the .22 LR is too long . Anybody else with a similar problem? Different problem? Should I send it back? I fed a few rounds in by hand and was happy with the accuracy.

I did, and I had the exact same problem. Check this. As you (attempt to) chamber a round, move the bolt forward very slowly. Watch the firing pin the whole time. It should retract before the bolt gets to the cartridge. If it doesn't, the part of the firing pin that protrudes will keep the rim of the cartridge down, preventing it from feeding.

If that's what you've got, then drive out the one pin that holds the firing pin in place, and clean and lube thoroughly. Also check for a burr where the bolt retainer (which also is supposed to retract the firing pin as the bolt comes forward) hits the bolt. Right on the inlet in the bolt body.

I had a bit of a burr. But after some careful filing, cleaning and lubing, I've got normal function.

And the gun shoots great. I really like it now.

I bought one a while ago and I love it. It functions perfectly. Accuracy is pheominal with subsonic and standard velocity ammo. It shoots high velocity very well also. It starts to open up a bit with hyper velocity ammo. In my opinion these are the best surplus deals going! I am very satisfied with mine.

I had the same feeding problem with my Romie .22. My problem, an possibly yours, was related to the ejector (not the extractor) which is supposed to slide freely and silkily on the left side of the bolt. As you work your action, illuminate the interior and watch to see if the extractor is able to extend, and more importantly RETRACT when you move the bolt back and forth.

If the extractor remains extended, you will notice that the .22 cartidge is blocked from being completely captured as it is stripped from the magazine.

Now, take the bolt out and see how the extractor moves back and forth with your fingers. You may find that it is gummy, or even sticky. If it is merely gummy, it looks like you need to clean more cosmoline off it. If it is sticky (as if it is mechanically hanging up on something) you might have a burr, or grit, or other crud in there.

My wager is once that slidy thing is freed up your rifle should feed just fine.

Mine is super accurate but the Taiwan made mag mine came with sucks. My rounds always nose dive to the left of the bore.Everything seems ok but i will try a thorough bolt cleaning again and have also ordered in a romanian mag from sportsmans guide to see if that helps. That said, i don't mind shooting it as a single shot.

I've got one and love it. Mine feeds and extracts beautifully. If you want it to look sweet too, you need to get rid of that nasty varnish and cheesy dark brown stain that makes it look like it's got a broomstick-wood stock. The wood on mine was actually pretty nice underneath all that nastiness, and looks really nice now with a nice stain and linseed oil finish -- I'll post a photo once I get a digital picture of it.

Does Sportsman's guide sell OEM magazines for the Romanian?

No problems with mine

Got it about a year ago, but it was NOT a C&R. But for $50 or so, how could I go wrong?

Mine also loves the subsonic ammo, particularly the Moderator offering from PMC. At 15 yards it'll shoot just under one inch. At 25 yards it holds right at an inch. More than acceptable accuracy, and it's barely a whisper with that PMC ammo.

If you don't have one, and especially if you have kids, I'd get one or two. They are very good values, in my opinion.

I must be lucky. Mine shoots half-inch to three-quarters groups at 25 yds with the iron sights, benchrest. It likes the cheap Remington HPs and QuickShoks. That'll be great for hunting.

Hi Bruegger,i don't know if they are OEM or not, but they have to be made better than my Taiwan #'s.If your'e interested the catalog item # is___BX1A-51028___ and they are $9.97 each.www.sportsmansguide.com

Houndawg, try http://www.classicarms.org, they are listing the rifles for $59.95 now. They were running them for $49.95 ea. or 3 for $139.95. They have a new retail store so the prices have probably gone up on everything.

I have several of the rifles and used one in a match at 100 yards from the bench, 20 shots, and scored 188-3x. It did better at 100 yds than it did at 50 yds. I have been very pleased with them.

Did you figure out how to strip the bolt? It took me awhile but now it's no problem.
