I recently acquired a NM springfield mil spec with the intention of customizing it, and so far I must say it made a huge difference. I figured it would be a fun way to learn amateur gun smithing through trial and error (dont recommend it). I added mainly wilson parts as I am not a big fan of mim. I added a beavertail .250, an aluminum 3 hole trigger, stainess pin set, FLGR (i prefer them for some reason), steel slide stop, and custom hickory grips. The slide stop required minor filing to ensure proper feeding and the beavertail required alot of filing and it was not a drop in as advertised. I refused to file any part of the frame. The new trigger made a big difference and has a very crisp light break. When I got the gun it had the rear sight dove tailed with a set of novaks already installed, extended thumb safety and commander hammer. I've never personally modified a handgun before and I must say I really enjoyed it. I wish I could post pics but this crappy phone won't allow me to. Anyone else have modified pistols (1911s, glocks, sigs, etc) they want to share?
