Any Sig pro (2022) experts here?

So I have a Sp2022 in 9mm. I love the gun but I don't shoot it well. I have striker fired 9's that I shoot very well, or at least well enough to satisfy me. My sig feels good in the hand and the trigger in single action feels good, but my groups are at least 3x the size of my other guns at 10 yards or more. The gun runs great and I've never had a malfunction but in my hands it is not very accurate.

I'm really not sure why but I thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone has ever seen anything like this with the sig pro.

You need to learn how to operate a da/sa gun. Sounds like you struggle with the da pull which isn't uncommon. This might help with some of the fundamentals. Once you understand the concept, do a lot of dry fire practice. Once you get comfortable with this, you problems will likely go away. Practice, practice, practice.

You just got good advice.

I bought a new 2022 last summer and found it just as accurate as my gun-smithed P228. But I am quite used to DA/SA guns, including semiautos and revolvers.

So dry fire, after taking all those precautions to make sure the rascally lead-launcher is very definitely not loaded. Practice holding on the aiming point on the wall (mother-in-law photo?) and work that trigger again and again until you can get the hammer to drop without much twitch in the sight picture.

Then go duplicate at the range.

You might want to consider buying one of the grip exercisers. The Gripmaster is my favorite and I'll use it while watching TV. Notice that you can hold steadily with three fingers while working the trigger finger in and out. You can definitely get a useful hand workout with this gadget.

Otherwise range time quickly turns into tired trigger finger time, which leads to wobble.

You guys are assuming a problem with DA but most likely the OP is not even shooting DA at the range unless he is manually decocking.

Anongunner have you had anyone else try your SP2022, ideally someone known to be a good shot with about anything, yet and if so what are their results? You want to rule out a problem with your SP2022 first though unlikely.

Also did your SP2022 come with other grips? Some do and some don't. If you have one available you may want to try it. Also have you tried putting your trigger finger on different locations on the trigger including closer to the tip and closer to the first joint just to see what happens?

My SP2022 is one of my best shooters.

I own the SP2022's older .40 brother the SP2340. It shoots as well as any of my other four West German made SIG pistols.

I cut my teeth shooting revolvers, so the long smooth DA trigger pull on my 2340 is not a problem for me. I can see how that long DA trigger pull plus the transition to SA could throw off folks who are used to the short, light and consistent trigger pull of striker fired pistols.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not having trouble with da shooting (although I do, but that's not what I'm worried about). Even single action accuracy is bad compared to my other guns. Again, at least in my hands.

I do need to let someone else try it.

I had one myself, and I, just like you, very much enjoyed the gun. Got it in a trade. It was smooth, felt well built, etc. although the trigger wasn't anything to get excited about much like the majority of DA/SA triggers. I could not shoot accurately with it. Mine had the thinner trigger and I was told by SIG that they make the gun with one of two types of triggers with the thinner one being for people with smaller hands. I am 6'4" and have larger than average hands so it just didn't fit well for me. I ended up getting rid of it but I plan on getting an M11-A1 somewhere down the road. It feels like they were made especially for me.

It looks like a dolled up Hi-Point but I shoot very well with my Walther PPX. Sometime just because we like a gun doesn't mean it's the best one for us

I have a 2022 in 9mm and it seems like a lot of people have problems with accuracy at first with them. Dry firing and making sure I was using the pad of my finger with the medium grip helped me a lot. I'm not a great shot but I can hit a torso sized steel plate at 125 yards 75% of the time if the wind isn't kicking up too much.
The sights aren't the greatest, the pumpkin on a post style areally for me, at some point I'll upgrade the sights.
