any opinions on a S&W .460

I've been thinking about the new .460 mag. I like the idea it can shoot the .45 LC, .454, and the hotter .460 mag. Seems like the best of all worlds, light or heavy it has it covered. The price does not seem bad compared to have a custom "re-worked" Ruger.

Has anyone handled / shot this revolver?

I haven't shot the Smith & Wesson .460, but if I were in the market
(which I'm not), I would look harm at this weapon cuz of the .460's
versatility. :) I definitely would choose it over the S&W 500.:D

Best Wishes,

Wife ordered me one in early April, got it last month. Whatta a woman:)
I've fired 47 rds of 460, 20 rds 454 and 20 rds 45LC.
460 ammo was Hornady, two different lots,1st 20 were plesant to shoot second
20 (different lot different day) were considerably hotter and 20 was all that I wanted to shoot at one time.
454 recoil was stronger than either lot of 460. Wouldn't want to shoot many of these at one time.
45LC recoil was nonexistant, .38 compared to .44 mag.
Zeroed at 25yds with 460 was dead on at 100 yds.
454 and 45LC both shot about 6 inches high with 460 zero.
Noise didn't seem much worse than a .44 mag.
Will be fun to shoot with reloads loaded down a little and a scope and a sissy shooting glove.

I like this gun

Done some research on it. I love the versatility. Like a souped-up 357.

BTW, the rumor that you need a barrel change after 1400rnds is false. SW emailed me back and said it was "not true". They said it can shoot those rounds "all day long". I read some articles that were spouting some rumors that the psi was too much at 65,000 and a barrel change was needed. His curt response to me gave me the impression that he was tired of answering this same question over and over again.

I plan on picking one up within the next month. Best price I have found so far is $1,095. Going to a High Caliber gun show this weekend to see how much they sell them for. I don't think I can find it for too much less than that.

I just saw a review on the S&W 500. Man that is an awsome gun. So the new .460 is better? Is it just the vesrsatility of amo, or power IE (FPS and weight of bullit) I wanted to say the 500 on TV today was said to be the most powerful handgun out on the market. Using the FPS and weight of the bullit they got a 600 number. They said it was impact or something. All other guns even the Desert Eagle was in the 400's

I only cought the end of the show this morning. So I didn't notice if they shot the 460 in the lineup.
