Any one know any thing about Mossberg 500A

I traded a Sears Roebuck auto loader that had a week firing pin. It was fun to shoot but It lost the novelty when my friend missed 2 or 3 ducks this am because of FTF's. So on the way home I stopped at a pawn shop and he traded me straight across for the Mossberg. I had to put a plug in the tube so its legal but other wise it seems to be good.

it'll go bang overtime. mossberg makes different length barrels for it and pistol grips as well as "sport/tactical" stocks are available.
the 500 with an 18" barrel and pistol grip is an awesome home defense weapon
mine is loaded with 00 for first 3 rounds, then 2 slugs.

Well I took it out the range this evening, it goes bang every time just like I was hoping. I put some 3" shells through it just to see and I tell you what, it sure ain't my Nova with that recoil reducer.

personally, the most reliable firearm i have experience with. i've never seen an issue with one that couldn't easily be fixed with cheap replacement parts and a little know how, if it even needed that. dead on reliable. no staked in parts. never seen an extraction issue. never had a jam. nothing. minor feed issues i have seen, due to bad mag springs or a bent cart. stop, and i promptly corrected these issues easily and quickly.

my favorite firearm. purists can cry about "forearm rattle", or "aluminum receivers" and "cheap feel", while conveniently neglecting the fact that they by and large go bang each and every time you pull the trigger. so yeah..

it's a keeper. as much as i love the win1300 and while there are things i really like about the 870, there isn't a thing i'd change about the 500.

I've had my 12 Ga. for a long time, & have countless rounds thru it, with not one problem of any kind. Like was said, it ain't fancy, but it gets the job done.
